KILLER WHALE - The killer whale is born into a cool, dark pea-green ocean. The chirps, rumbles and squeals of her family pod offer great comfort. In her first few weeks, the new killer whale learns to tuck her body next to her mother's, riding her mother's wake so that she can easily keep up with the older orcas. Like all killer whales, she will someday be among the fastest animals in the sea. But for now, the family slows its pace to match her speed, nonetheless moving fearlessly across the ocean in a nomadic hunt for salmon and herring.
MANATEE - Born into a fresh water world, the young manatee is gracefully raised to the surface by his mother. His early days are spent floating through fresh water springs, ruddering with his flippers, tumbling with other rambunctious manatee calves, and grazing through the aquatic forest. But as he grows, he learns this seemingly tranquil life belies the many dangers of the sea.
