2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointment. October 21, 2012
Format:Hardcover
I was very excited to purchase the book as I am an avid crafter and homeschooler. The book is beautiful, well laid out and explained well. The disappointment though lies in the crafts. With a 365 day craft book I expected to receive a very varied collection of crafts that would be unique. Unfortunately the book consists of about 7 crafts (plush, cupcake topper, garland, card, gift tag, .... see I can't even think of more) done OVER and OVER and OVER again with different shapes. You will basically see how to take the same fox shape (for example) and put it onto all of those things, each one counting for a day. Then you'll see how to put a kitten shape on all of those things... and on it goes.

I'm super disappointed and feel like I wasted my $25. I would have saved a lot of money and found myself much more inspired by spending 20 minutes on Pinterest.

I'll give it 2 stars because it is beautiful and will look nice on my craft room shelf but as for content it would achieve one star.

1.0 out of 5 stars Save your money January 14, 2013

I'm sending my book back. It's misleading. It's not actually a different craft to make everyday. It's one craft, lets say a paper penguin. Day one, cut out paper penguin, day two, paste Popsicle stick on your paper penguin. Day three glue a magnet on back of your paper penguin. It's a lame book. Save your money!

5.0 out of 5 stars Full of cute, easy craft projects! October 2, 2012
Format:Hardcover
The last week I've been at 898 reviews, then today reviewed a set knitting needles to bring it up to 899 so this could be my 900th review. Simply because for that personal milestone, I wanted to review something truly special. This was it.

Craft-A-Day: 365 Simple Handmade Projects by Sarah Goldschadt lives up to it's title. The projects are simple. They don't take a big investment in time or materials. They fit into busy lives well, and are ideal for craft parties or crafting with young people.

It's a lovely book, the projects are very well photographed, not crammed all together on the pages, at 426 full color pages, each project gets it's own page with well written instructions. They are charming and put me in mind of zakka type crafts from Japan, which makes sense. A lot of the zakka craft movement is inspired by Scandinavian crafts and the author of this volume draws a lot of her inspiration from the same background. Simple shapes, bright folk colors and easy techniques done well make simple projects. The style is a clean, bright appealing look. Or if I can stop being a grown up for a minute-It's so cute! I lovelovelovelove the projects in this book.

She breaks down the year into weeks, and each week has a theme. Some of the themes are shapes, and she does clever things with just circles or squares. But a lot more of them are things. Animals, flowers, rainbows, mustaches, ghosts and trees for example. 52 weeks to the year, so 52 different themes. The projects come with complete instructions and templates you can trace or copy for patterns. For the sake of simplicity, the projects use similar construction methods which make it easy, you could work through this whole book in an hour or less a day every day for a year.

2.0 out of 5 stars Craft a Day for small children January 17, 2013
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Disappointing, boring - I was led to believe by a magazine review that this was "fun filled w/craft projects of all ages". NOT! They're not even different each day - one theme goes on for almost a week. For small kids only - very limited projects and ideas.

1.0 out of 5 stars Utterly repetitive and unimaginative January 13, 2013
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
One craft concept per day of the week (cake topper, garland, card, etc) - and each week a new, simple theme (cat, heart, dots). This is far from being creative, and i would be surprised to see any kids wanting to do the same 7 craft projects all year long. Even stylistically, it's all based on very simple paper cutout shapes. I had expected true inspiration - even 365 unique ideas - but our family could come up with the 7 core craft concepts of this book in one rainy afternoon. This is a waste of money and going back immediately.

2.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful book, but not much to it December 18, 2012
By rebecca
Format:Hardcover
The book is gorgeous. The photography is beautiful and the instructions are clear. But it's boring. Each week has a theme, like snowflakes or butterflies. There is a page of patterns (mostly the same shape in different sizes). There are about 10 different types of projects repeated through the whole book, just with a different theme. These include cake toppers, cards, wall art, felt ornaments or plush toys, stick cards, headbands, onesies, bags, and garlands. None of the projects are very unique. I got it for my 7 yo daughter who loves to make crafts, but I'm going to return it and find something different. This isn't worth the money!

5.0 out of 5 stars Craft for the non-crafty October 6, 2012
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
My daughter is doing a pre- school program with her three year old. These crafts are easily accommodated to the young set. They can also be used by any age.
I like that the direction s are clear and the supply list is succinct. The projects yield sleek but cute items. Templates are provided. ( I hate when directions include the statement "draw a .....". If I could draw, I wouldn't need so many directions.). So the book is fun, helpful, and has cute crafts. What could be better?

1.0 out of 5 stars Save your money May 4, 2013
Format:Hardcover
This book is not worth buying. There are seven or eight really stupid ideas for using 52 templates provided in the book. A very small number of the templates are interesting--fox and gnome are two. Most are just ridiculous--circle, square, raindrop, cloud. Then she uses pretty much the exact same craft ideas for each template--barrette, template on a stick, greeting card, cupcake topper, felt ornament. Over and over and over. Do not buy this $25 book. You have nobody to rip off but yourself. If you MUST, check it out of the library.
