5.0 out of 5 stars Good ideas for different skill levels November 22, 2011
Format:Paperback
Craft-In : 12 Project Booklets for Your Own Crafty Gatherings is a collection of ideas for crafting parties. The projects range from very easy for people who very new to crafting to projects that will be easier either split into a couple nights or for more experienced crafters. The booklets are full color and housed in a nice slip case.

I think it rocks. Really, if you have non-crafty friends who are interested in making things, this provides a great starting point for a party of you and a half dozen of your friends. If you have crafty friends and would like to have a themed party, again, great ideas ready to go.

Each booklet is by a different artist/author. They explain how to make the project pictured in detail. Paper projects include pages you can copy and use for your guests. They tell you what supplies you'll need, approximate level of skill needed, and the time needed for the projects.

I suggest if your hosting a party, you read all the way through the booklet you choose first. You might decide to make up an example ahead of time so you can help your guests and share out the booklet. Since the sets are fairly inexpensive though, you could also buy a couple extra sets.

Great Cupcake Makeover by Jodi Rhoden has two cupcake recipes and two icing recipes. The chocolate recipe is vegan! It has lots of ideas for how to decorate the cupcakes. It explains how to ice a cupcake to look professional and has suggestions for natural sprinkles and garnish ideas, natural food coloring ideas, and how to sugar fruits and flowers. Since some of the decorations are flags for cupcakes, they seem a natural for paper artists.

All The Hoopla by MelMac Pink has full instructions for making your own hoops.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for gatherings! June 5, 2011
Format:Paperback
Craft-In has twelve booklets included in it and come packaged in a slide out box for easy storage. The purpose of Craft-In is to enable you to have an easy craft night with all your friends. The booklets are well designed and brimming with colorful photos that show the instructions, as well as supplies, variations and templates. They feature a strong variety of crafts, each focusing on a single one that you and your friends could accomplish in one night (no unfinished projects to bring home!).

Artist Julie Armbruster recycles jar lids by turning them into little art masterpieces that you can hang anywhere. Jeanette Lim, shows how to make adorable little felt strawberries. A basket full of these simple delights would be such a cute decoration in the kitchen. There are booklets that explain how to make charming terrariums, crocheted cacti and one that demonstrates tricks to make cupcakes look professional. Other creative projects include fun things to do with mint tins, hula hoops and mate-less socks. There are also pocketbook logs filled with faves, retro paper dolls, pet embroidery and angel wing jewelry.

I loved this idea in Craft-In of hanging out with friends, snacking and catching up with them while making a craft that everyone gets to take home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally great box-set full of unique projects! March 1, 2011
By Alice
Format:Paperback
I am super thrilled with my copy of Craft-In and would highly recommend this set to all crafters! Each project is its own individual mini-booklet/zine - the books are artfully designed and explain the projects very well. I love the variety of mediums included - crochet, baking, felt, embroidery, and so on. You could plan a year of monthly craft parties with a completely different project every time! Being a yarnaholic, I especially enjoyed the crochet cactus pattern, but I plan to make all the projects as soon as I can find the time! Pet portraits, here I come!

5.0 out of 5 stars Creative book and gift November 18, 2010
By SESU
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
The Craft-In book of projects is a creative way to have your friends do something fun, besides going to a movie or watching TV. The projects are fairly easy and the directions for each are well written and comprehensive. The photgraphs and illustrations are excellent and the overall presentation is as creative as the projects themselves. If you're not going to use this for yourself, it would make a great gift!

5.0 out of 5 stars Full of delight and inspiration! October 12, 2010
Format:Paperback
I love nearly everything about this beautifully-executed "book", from its sweet style to its premise to its individual projects and contributors. All the projects are eminently do-able by a variety of ability levels, and I can truly see it being the catalyst for some pals or neighbors to finally get together and start that craft night that they've been meaning to do. Looking forward to trying each one, and hopefully with a friend or two!

5.0 out of 5 stars creative sweetness! October 12, 2010
Format:Paperback
As a contributor to the book, I was over the moon giddy when I received my copy of Craft-In. When I opened it up to find 12 amazing tutorial booklets from a wide array of artists I was eager to start my own projects! One of booklets contains a project that is right up my alley - building super cute worlds in jars. The booklet titled Little Ireland by artist Maura Oakley has easy to follow instructions on how to make your own terrarium. Best of all, she shows us how to make the cutest miniature sheep out of wool roving. Artist John Murphy, took me on a trip to create my own Stupid Sock Creature. I can't wait to complete ALL the other projects contained in this collection of creative sweetness!

Blessings!
