5.0 out of 5 stars Completely Delicious
Entranced by the movie, I just knew I had to get the soundtrack. Since the town in which my high school was in did not have this stocked, I had to go into the neighboing major city. Believe me when I tell you that the trip was really worth it. I still adore listening to the CD to this day.

3.0 out of 5 stars Dull, but with a few worthy songs
A mostly dull collection of unnecessary remakes (Juliana Hatfield does Marianne Faithful? Really?), but it has three songs that hint at a spunkier, fun collection. Letters to Cleo's "Dangerous Type" takes The Cars original and makes it playful, Spacehog's "The Horror" is far from a great song but it's absolutely an atmospheric original. And...

Entranced by the movie, I just knew I had to get the soundtrack. Since the town in which my high school was in did not have this stocked, I had to go into the neighboing major city. Believe me when I tell you that the trip was really worth it. I still adore listening to the CD to this day.

Although Jewel is the only anoying track (what is her problem anyways!)it's inclusion should not stop you from buying this CD. From Letters to Cleo, to Love Spit Love (who's cover of the Smith's is ironically used in Charmed!)there are plenty of awesome tracks to override anything too cliched and poppy. This is one of the best CD's for spoky etherial music.

Since the movie is supposed to be dark humor, it is only fitting that the tracks are majority the same. Even if they share one song, newcomers should not get this CD expecting to hear something that reminds them of the Charmed TV series; the girls in this film are outcasts, and three of them abuse their powers by letting their over inflated egos do harm to others. In otherwords, the CD's supposed to be dark, cynical and gloomy

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Music!, October 7, 2000
This review is from: The Craft: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
I remember about a year ago when I saw the Craft. Not Only was I shocked on how amazing it was, I loved the music. So when I found the Soundtrack in the store a couple weeks ago I had to get it. I found that almost all the songs are ones that I'd want to play over and over again. Especially the Love Spit Love, Our Lady Peace, Letters to Cleo, and Matthew Stewart. I also loved "under the water" by Jewel. This soundtrack has a good mix of alternative music, and some softer almost poppish tunes. I recocmmend it to anyone. This soundtrack has the ablilty to match the mood of the move, dark, moddy, and witchy.

5.0 out of 5 stars This soundtrack ROCKS!, September 11, 1998
This review is from: The Craft: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Man, this CD is probably the best soundtrack that I have ever heard. Unlike a lot of soundtracks which have only one or two good songs and a bunch of sucky ones, EVERY song on this soundtrack is good. This CD is especially good to have around for parties - but only if you're into rock.

Letters to Cleo's "Dangerous Type" takes The Cars original and makes it playful, Spacehog's "The Horror" is far from a great song but it's absolutely an atmospheric original. And Elastica, go-to band for fun soundtrack songs, outdo themselves with "Spastica," a catchy, clever two-and-a-half minutes of twitchy fun. If only the rest of the album could have the same attitude (and I'll give credit to Tripping Daisy and All Too Much do worhty filler).

2.0 out of 5 stars Unfulfilled Potential, April 9, 2001
This review is from: The Craft: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Certain soundtracks have a lasting impact due to the impression made in the movie. The true test of a soundtrack is to see how the music holds up to someone who has never seen the movie. Falling into the latter camp, I was given a copy of The Craft soundtrack by a friend who knew I was a Smith's fan, and wanted me to hear the Love Spit Love version.

The writing should be good; Lennon-McCartney, Peter Gabriel, Ric Ocasek, Marianne Faithful, Morrissey-Marr. However, the execution left a little to be desired. That's not to say this is a bad album, but it's not exactly a great album either. For the covers, I kept wishing that I had the original copy of the song, with the exception of Our Lady Peace's Tomorrow Never Knows. I would suggest that people take a listen to the original Peter Gabriel, Cars, Smiths, etc. songs and then listen to these versions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbinding, December 21, 2002
This review is from: The Craft: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
I love this movie, and I loved a lot of the songs in the movie, so naturally, I had to get the soundtrack. I was not dispointed with it, I constantly listen to it, I love it.

1.) "Tommorrow Never Knows" by Our Lady Peace - Definitely not my favorite song, at some parts it's boring, and they're saying the same thing over and over. But it's still good.

2.) "I Have The Touch" by Heather Nova - I love this song, Heather Nova is so talented. And I know it's a cover of Peter Gabriel, but it's one good cover!

3.) "All This and Nothing" by Sponge - This is a good song, it's unique, and dark. I really like it

4.) "Dangerous Type" by Letters to Cleo - I love Letters to Cleo, they're terrific! This song is excellent, it's my 2nd favorite song on the CD.

5.) "How Soon is Now?" by Love Spit Love - One of the main reasons I bought this CD, I heard it in the movie and really liked it, and then I heard it in the Cruel Intentions preview. It's a terrific song, it seems witchy to me.

6.) "Dark Secret" by Matthew Sweet - Matthew Sweet is terrific, if you look in the CD booklet, you can see how many guitars he can play, I'm impressed. He needs to be more well known, he's got so much talent. I love this song, it's great

7.) "Witches Song" by Juliana Hatfield - It's slightly boring, but I like Juliana Hatfield, she's very talented, but this song dosen't impress me

8.) "Jump Into The Fire" by Tripping Daisy - I don't really like this song, it gets kind of boring, it reminds me of suicide for some reason (You can climb a mountain/You can swim the sea/You can into the fire, but you'll never be free). It's dull but I can sit through it

9.) "Under The Water" by Jewel - I don't like Jewel, she's very very annoying. She sounds like she's crying when she sings, and I hate it. This song is ok though

10.) "Warning" by All Too Much - Not that great. It's kind of boring to me, and too upbeat in a way.

11.) "Spastica" by Elastica - I love this song, I really like Elastica, they're unique.

12.) "The Horror" by Spacehog - I really love this song, there are some odd lyrics, but it's great. It's eery, which is great

13.) "Bells, Books, and Candles" by Graeme Revell - This is good meditation music, I always think of the movie when I hear it, I think of...bells books and candles!

I really wish they'd included "Scorn" by Portishead and "Sick Child" By Sioxsie & The Banshees on this soundtrack. These were good songs in the movie, and more gloomy then some of the other ones. Buy it! It's terrific!

With the exception of Jewel trying to rap, there is not a bad song on this album. It just makes you wanna close your eyes and think of a simpler time. This is by far one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard!

3.0 out of 5 stars Great music, although some get a little boring, November 29, 1999
By
This review is from: The Craft: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
I bought this album for the song Dangerous Type, which I still think is the best song on here. It always makes me happy whenever I hear it. Other great songs are Under the Water by Jewel, which I think is her only really good song, and I Have the Touch by Heather Nova. Both songs have great beats and occasionally have splendid moments. I am not disappointed at all by this purchase. I recommend it to any one who loved the movie.
