5.0 out of 5 stars Best of some good books
There are a lot of good strategy books on the market. This is the best I have seen. I like the combination of text, cases, exercises, and so forth. Also, I like the real-world examples with little snippets from the current press that are used to illustrate the authors' points.Leading Effective Supply Chain Transformations: A Guide to Sustainable World-Class Capability and...

2.0 out of 5 stars Missing On-Line Access
Buyer beware. Despite this book coming directly from Amazon as a "new" book, you will not have access to on-line case studies as required by most courses.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of time, November 22, 2010
This review is from: Crafting & Executing Strategy: The Quest for Competitive Advantage: Concepts and Cases (Hardcover)
This is an extremely poorly written textbook that is all bloat and no substance. Every chapter reads nearly the same as the last and lines such as "fill key managerial slots with smart people who are clear thinkers, good at figuring out what needs to be done, skilled in 'making it happen' and delivering good results" and "a company needs to get the right executives on the bus - and the wrong executives off the bus - before trying to drive the bus in the desired direction" leave me wondering to whom this book was targeted. Statements such as these make up the "substance" of the text and offer little to no actual academic value and are truly lost on anyone who cannot establish these concepts without the aid of a textbook.

Crafting & Executing Strategy feels like nothing more than a rushed title for a quick cash-in and does not justify even a $70 rental.

I received the book in a timely fashion, BUT it was NOT the edition that I ordered. I place the order for the 18th edition and received the 17th edition. I was unaware this mistake took place until today when I arrived to the class and was informed I had the wrong book. Waiting now to hear a response from the company, as to if I will get an exchange or return?

1.0 out of 5 stars BAD WRITING, November 11, 2010

The material in this book is confusing! It isn't written in a way that makes the reader want to read. It makes the reader want to burn the book. For instance, on page 149 I read the following sentence: "Differentiation enhances probability whenever the extra price the product commands outweighs the added costs of achieving the differentiation." Wow! Really? WHAT INCREASES WHAT?? DIFFERENTIATION PRODUCT WHAT??? I'll keep this phrase in mind when I write my next research paper because if I write like that, I WILL GET AN F!!

Book was received in good timing and very good condition. It was used mostly as a reference book. Good case refernces to help with business strategy as outlined by our instructor. Thanks!

1.0 out of 5 stars Trashy book, March 23, 2011

This book was so worn the entire cover was not attached. I had to glue the cover on. The pages was worn and some looked like they had been wet with moldy spots on them. I really needed the book for my class but I resent this company charging me 60 plus dollars for a piece of trash. I will never order from that provider again. This book should have been either trashed or sold for considerably less money.

Excellent delivery time and it arrived the next day as advertised. Price was high but worth it when you order the wrong book.
