Informative business guide to strategy,
By
This review is from: Crafting and Executing Strategy : The Quest for Competitive Advantage - Concepts and Cases (Strategic Management: Concepts and Cases) (Hardcover)
I bought this book for a college class and kept it. While it is not the most exciting book, the case studies are an excellent guide to a wide range of business plans and strategies. The cases are divided into four categories: single business companies, diversified companies, implementing and executing strategy and ethics & social responsibility. The cases are very complete and interesting. The downside is the shelf life of the book - I would expect a new edition before long.

Great case studies,

If you have gone through business school, most of the information provided here are fairly generic. But what I love about this book is the numerous examples and case studies that it offers from Krispy Kreme to FedEx to McDonalds. Its analysis is right on the money and it teaches you how to modify your own strategies and operations.

Student Review,

I am a student majoring in Business Administration who recently used this text in an upper-level management course. The book's writing is utterly superfluous. Boredom was frequently my sentiment as I weeded through unnecessarily labyrinthine sentences. The ideas in the book were occasionally interesting, but were usually ideas I had already developed on my own via simple intuition. Perhaps the most valuable part of the text is the section of case studies. This closing segment of the book contains many great ideas for student projects. Overall, this text disappoints me as a student

Business Policy Book Review,

The book matched the exact description and condition the seller listed. The cases in the second half of the text book are in depth and are a core part of our class. This was a good purchase and was definitely worth the money.

For a text book, it's great!,

As mentioned in the title, it's a text book, but it's very informative. Gets down in the weeds and is very thorough. Was a good read and great for the class we were required to have it for! There are a few chapters that I didn't read thoroughly, and now that the class is over, I intend to go back and reread!

Does the job but too verbose,
By John Smith (New York. NY USA) - See all my reviews

This book is long and verbose with a lot of redundancy. That said, it covers most of the necessary topics required for a business school strategy class. The cases are actually pretty good, though I saw some citations from wikipedia articles, which I think is a bit sloppy. As with many business books these days, the production quality is high, the book is filled with pictures, graphs and plenty of color. However, I worry that this may have been done as an excuse to jack up the price.

Information is very useful. Cases help understanding the material. Although, some companies presented in the cases no longer exist. So if you need to write a review, please make sure you check updated information.

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!,

I had some problems with ordering my school text-books, because 1 of the 3 books I ordered (and grouped together for free shipping) was not in-stock. The other 2 shipped, but, I still needed my 3rd. I found it used on Amazon, but, it was 2 cents short of super-saver shipping. I called Amazon Customer Service, and, the great guy on the phone helped me sort it all out, and, get the book I needed for school. This is why I order with Amazon instead of other internet web-sites. They do have great customer service - their focus on relationship marketing is incredible! Way to go Amazon! I'll be coming back, and, sending family and friends here.
