Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Kindergarten-Grade 4ATwenty-nine crafts inspired by spring and holidays are shown on double-page spreads and illustrated with full-color drawings. The directions are framed by border paintings that relate to the projects. The crafts include pussy willows made from cotton swabs, a rather novel "Huffing and Puffing Mr. Wind Puppet," a giant paper-plate shamrock, a bird's nest made from uncooked spaghetti, Passover candlesticks, an Easter bunny egg holder, and a spring-cleaning apron of paper towels. Some of the projects are easy enough to be done by kindergartners with adult help, while others could be completed by older children without too much supervision. If adult help is needed with cutting, etc., it is noted in the instructions. Gillian Chapman's Spring (Raintree/Steck-Vaughn, 1997) starts with Ramadan and is more multicultural, with descriptions of the various festivals; it has only 11 projects. Celia McInnes's Projects for Spring & Holiday Activities (Garrett, 1989) has 20 activities, including some for lesser-known holidays such as Holi (Hindu) and Wesak (Buddhist); it also has some information on the festivals. Kathy Ross's The Best Holiday Crafts Ever! (Millbrook, 1996) includes 12 ideas for Easter and an Earth Day windsock. Crafts to Make in the Spring would be a useful addition where more ideas are needed.APam Gosner, formerly at Maplewood Memorial Library, NJ

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical, fun, well-illustrated crafts for 4 to 8 year olds, March 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Crafts To Make In The Spring (Crafts for All Seasons) (Paperback)
I have purchased several craft books but this is the best one I have seen so far. It has very practical, cute crafts to make with things you have around the house. My children, ages 4 and 6, love to look through the book and pick something out. My 6 year old can do most of the work herself and the 4 year old needs only a little help. I strongly recommend this craft book and cannot wait to get the rest of them!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Resource, April 23, 2009
This review is from: Crafts To Make In The Spring (Crafts for All Seasons) (Paperback)
This is a good resource for simple craft projects. Someone with lots of experience with crafts may not like it but I teach special education and all of the projects were cute and easy for my students to create. The projects all used everyday items and had clear directions. Definitely worth the money.
