More About the Author

Born in Superior, Wisconsin, Sue's love for writing and art started before she could bait her own fishing hook. To feed Sue's creative passions, her grandparents constantly told her stories which they encouraged her to capture on paper -- in both words and illustrations. From building a humble cabin during the depression to a secret fishing spot on Lake Nebagamon, the stories told by Sue's grandma and grandpa opened her eyes to creative writing, sparked her artistic imagination, and fueled her passion for sharing stories and art with others.

As a young teenager, Sue gathered her writing and painting tools and biked to the shores of Lake Superior to capture the beautiful scenery in meaningful poetry and fluid watercolor. One year, as a Christmas surprise for her family, Sue completed a collection of short stories about life at the 4U2 -- her grandparent's quaint cabin nestled amongst the birches and evergreens.

Sue pursued her love of writing and art at the University of WI-Superior, earning a degree in fine art and journalism. After graduation, Sue worked as a copywriter/designer for a trade magazine publisher in Duluth, Minnesota. In 1987 Sue went to work for Meredith Corporation in Des Moines, Iowa. Her career there allowed her many professional experiences, including copywriter, copy chief, crafts designer, magazine editor, set painter, and photography stylist.

Today, Sue is a freelance writer, artist, and crafts designer with her work appearing in more than 75 crafts and decorating publications. Her creative skills are sought by businesses and individuals all around the country. Sue's works are constantly called "contagiously happy." To Sue, that's the nicest compliment in the whole wide world.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Be Crafty and Make an Easy Craft Project With Your Dad or Mom, or Your Sibling!", July 12, 2010
This review is from: Easy Crafts to Make Together (Better Homes & Gardens) (Spiral-bound)
Here we are "in the middle of summer", some of us very busy caring for our new pet, others of us, playing outdoors, and still others of us, writing book reviews as we comb our way through a collection of books, craft materials, and photos.

I continue to be on this "house-cleaning" project; it mushrooms into all kinds of directions and that is fine. Sorting books, photos, craft materials, and the usual household items is the daily agenda, and just when I think I've gotten a bit farther in my project, I stop to read one of the zillions of books in my collection.

I really like this book of 750 projects with instructions, patterns, and ideas for creating something similar. The catch is that the projects need to be done with one or more persons, "together". While all the projects don't appeal to any one of us, we can come up with projects that two or more of us will enjoy, as well as learn how to better get along with one another.

Chapter 2 will be a favorite for you pet lovers out there; there are plates and dishes to decorate, place mats to make, paw-print plaques, dishes, key chains, treat jars, decorative jars, pet cards, and even a pillow for your pooch.

You will love the other chapters, so I won't spoil the fun by telling you what they are about. Better yet, I will be happy to pass along this book of 750 craft ideas to the first person who calls my attention to reading this. It might be you!
