I purchased this tool set brand new from a local sears, and the tools it does have are great. Got a really good price on it too. I would have liked some way to organize the non-socket tools though. They are kept in plastic bags, loose in the hard box...

More importantly, it is missing some of the smaller pieces - the 5 mm black nut driver bit isn't labeled, and I'm not even sure it's 5 mm. It may be 4 or 3??? Also, I received two of the 1/4 inch black nut driver bits, but was missing the 3/16s driver bit.

So I took it back to the store, just to get those pieces. After 20 min on the phone, the store manager gave up trying to get the pieces shipped to me. After 10 min, he gave up trying to find these pieces on his own shelves. We opened up a whole new 200 piece set, and low and behold: this set had the same defects!

Eventually, the store manager gave up on trying to solve my problem at all. I may end up returning the whole thing because of this, and buy a bigger tool set that has more box wrenches. I'll also make sure to check every piece before the return date expires... I expected more from Craftsman.

This is a good tool set, although I have to admit I was quite disappointed. The 1/2 socket only came 5 mm 5 standard size short sockets. The 3/8 socket set came with every standard and metric size but no long sockets and the 1/4 inch socket set was complete. Ive had to buy all the 1/2 inch & 3/8 sockets. Expect to spend another $200 on getting a complete "mechanics" tool set. But there is every type of Allen wrench and small hex bits I will ever need. Do your homework if you truly want a mechanics set.

However, there are some draw backs, 1 the largest of the three ratchets do not fit the largest of the sockets, this makes no seance because one would know the largest nuts or bolts usually require much more torque to tighten or loosen so CRAFTSMAN could expect to replace the medium ratchet because it's the one that fit's the largest sockets and it is almost impossible to loosen or tighten those 18,19 bolts with the ratchet in your hand without some sort of extension.

I had been looking for a set like this for a while so that I can work on my motorcycle. I had priced them out at places like lowes and Home depot and Sears. but I found a craftsman set on amazon for about half the price. Craftsman are great tools and garenteed for life. highly recomend.

I received this set for my birthday, and the first 2 minutes with this set up exactly how it was going to be. I opened the case and about 100 sockets fell out all over the patio. The case is total rubbish. The only way to prevent the parts from falling out (of which a few went permanently missing in that first chrome avalanche) is to carefully put them in the case, never stand the case up or carry it by the handle. As soon as you lift the box by the handle you can hear the sockets rattle down from their organized spots into the large cavity in the middle of the case. As I said, the only way to keep it organized is to never carry it by the carry handle or set it on a shelf unless it's laying flat. The old red plastic Craftsman carriers worked so much better because each socket snapped into place and even if you dropped the case only a few would come loose. If you drop this, you will spend half an hour slowly putting them all back in their proper places.

good tool set has like everything you need to do anything for your car but all the tools come in bags so you have to put them in the right place in the case yourself but overall its a great buy

PROS:
1.The tools are good quality , they are strong and can take abuse.
2.The tools do not fall out when you open the case.
3.There is extra space in the case, so one can store other tools or items

CONS:

1. The Hex keys are in a bag and do not have their own case. One has to search for the right size when working with them. They can get lost easily if one is not careful.
2. The screw driver bits are tightly wedge into the case slots and one has to use force to get them out.
3. There are no 1/2'', 3/8'' extension bars to access hard to reach nuts.

For basic maintenance jobs on you car this is a good tool set.
