Fun to look at & fun to try the projects. But, takes a lot of gathering of stuff to make even one small project. So, plan to make lots & give them away for Christmas or another special occasion. Great for craft parties where everyone works & inspires each other with their creativity.

Creativity grows when you use it, so why not do things that are really fun and stretch the imagination? Lots of ideas here. Great for all ages.

I love this book! I had a Cinco de Mayo party and used many of the ideas to create the perfect ambiance for my party. I love how Crafty Chica's crafts are very user friendly and can be modified to fit your own tastes. I highly recommend this book as well as Art de la Soul. You won't be disappointed!

This book looked really cool because I love mexican folk art/loteria/day of the dead type decor. I feel bad to give it a negative review but I don't want someone else to waste their money. I thought the crafts were actually quite cheesy, tacky and not authentic looking at all. Even the descriptions of the crafts were annoyingly cliche and full of bad puns. I bought it for inspiration and ideas, but I did not find anything inspiring. I returned this book(less the shipping charges of course). If you are not artistically inclined, just starting out with crafting, and don't mind very generic looking projects you may like this book.

The editorial review claims that there are MORE than 60 projects. I twice counted exactly 58 projects in the Table of Contents.
My fault that I did not realize it was a collection of 2 books, with only a disappointing 13 additional projects from the book I already own, "La Casa Loca." That said, it was not worth the extra money spent. I'm a big fan of Cathy Murillo's art, and even went to her Heard Museum show in Phoenix (from Los Angeles), but feel that this "collection" was not much of a "collection" at all if you own the other book. I'm disappointed, Cathy! I feel this was a shameless marketing gimmick that cost me, the customer. I will give this book away. Well, maybe I will give "La Casa Loca" away. I really did not need the same book twice. I recommend this book if you do not own "La Casa Loca" or her other book on shrines and you love fun, mexican flavored crafts.

Purchase this book if you are looking for funky and different. I read an article on a craft blog of the wonders of this book, bought it and wasn't impressed. NOt my style, very much Latin look and feel to the products.
Will be giving it as a gift to a friend who would appreciate this book more than me. |
