3.0 out of 5 stars Out of Synch
While the music itself is excellent (5/5), I'm more than a little disappointed that the soundtrack and the video are frequently out of synch with each other. This is a cardinal sin for concert footage.

About the performance - it rocks as usual! It is completely live, with absolutely no lip-synching or overdubs. Dolores and the guys are in their best form. Includes all the big hits - Dreams, Linger, Zombie, Salvation, etc.; and a lot of tracks from "Bury the Hatchet." The highlights come at the end, when they perform the beautiful "You and Me" beneath a shower of rose petals with stained-glass window lighting effects, and "Just My Imagination" in front of a sea of twinkling white lights. The band is totally into it, and they play a PERFECT show!

4.0 out of 5 stars Cranberries - 'Beneath The Skin:Live In Paris' (Image), July 22, 2005
Never been all that much of a Cranberries fan,but I had the chance to check out this DVD,so I thought...what the heck!'Beneath...' features an 80-minute live concert that was taped at the Omnisport in Paris,France on December 9,1999.Great,crisp and clear-as-a-bell picture and sound quality.A REAL treat for all true fans. After viewing the live segment,I can now see why this band has such a huge fan base.Tunes I remember liking the best were "Promises","Salvation","Pretty When You're Gone",their memorable "Zombie" and "Dying In The Sun".Wasn't that familiar with most of the other songs they played. Also dug the extras the DVD provides, like their unplugged video of "Yesterday's Gone",photo gallery, etc.Very nice.A should-have,and a must-have for all Cranberries fans.

PERFECTION!

Everything in this video was perfect - the music, singing, fans, lighting, mixing, venue..... and the DTS track was brilliant...

If you are a Cranberries fan, this is a MUST HAVE.

If you are a rock/pop fan in general, i highly recommend this DVD.

Oh, and as others have said, make sure you get #2.

5.0 out of 5 stars CRANBERRIES rock!, January 2, 2001
This is one of the best shows I have seen! Cranberries are definitely one of the best rock band. All Cranberries fans should watch this show. It's been 6 years (1994) since fans got the first chance to see the Cranberries live on VHS. I think this is their second official video release. The show includes all their best songs and the place (Palais De Bercy,Paris) is amazing, not to mention the crowd! It's a beautiful, beautiful concert! What more do you need Cran fans? Just get this and enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars 5-Star Performance, September 14, 2002

I had the opportunity to witness The Cranberries in concert twice and I must sy they sure know how to rock. The band's chrisma and showmanship are tight and the on-set production is great. This DVD serves to capture the wonderful moments of their 1999 Paris tour on film. The audience was boisterous and the band rocked hella good.

The DVD comes with a lot of features from the good old past and three videos from Htachet, and the navigation is much improved over the frustrating navigation in the 1st issue.

The newly authored edition with 2 more videos from Wake Up...Coffee plus a simplified and user-freindly navigation menu would be out! It is much worth it.

This DVD shows a great performance of the Cranberries. I really liked it. The voice and everything looks just perfect. This material is something that you cannot miss. If You do not buy it you will regret for the rest of your life. It is a treasure for those who love live concerts and especially The Cranberries. This DVD also includes four songs 'Yesterday's gone' 'hollywood' 'How' and 'saving grace'... Thank you very much for everything dear Cranberries...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great concert with poor video quality, August 25, 2003
By
Luigi (Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico) - See all my reviews
The performance is great, the sound simply amazing, but the image quality is simply mediocre. It's full of pixelation...specially on dark scenes. That's why i hate full-featured dvds. In order to fill the dvd with "very interesting" extras on some music videos & the vast majority of movies, the studio has to limit the bitrate compression of the video. This people used a small piece of capacity of the double layer dvd. That's because the 5.1 sound, the pcm sound & the dts sound + the extras. Putting all the extras on other dvd and let the concert & sounds on other will gave the studio more room to make a better looking dvd. Anyway, is a good buy just for the sound & the performance...that's perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars go get it, March 17, 2003

I'm writing to tell you about "Cranberries- Beneath the Skin- Live in Paris 2." I dunno if you loves her like I loves her, but Dolores really does it for me. This DVD rocks- being a concert it's kind of a greatest hits line-up, but i could watch her sing "Ode to My Family" a million times.

It's brilliant, and not just because Dolores is so adorable- the songs are great. I love her voice- their lyrics are a bit political (nah, a political Irish band? what is this, Bizarro planet?) but interestingly, I find myself agreeing with most of their veiws, so it dosen't grate on me like U2 can sometimes do. darn liberals.

Technically, it's very good- an excellent filming of an even more excellent concert. The sound is awesome in 5.1 DTS, the crowd never overpowers (darn french), and they stress that none of it was 'looped' (DVD lingo for music dubbed back in, fyi) and it's really amazing that that cute little gal can belt it out like she does.

The menus and features are great, you can veiw fullscreen or a nice layout with scrolling lyrics (although in lyric mode she's harder to adore.) Apparently, it's important to get volume 2- the first edition was not put together well as a DVD... poor navigation, etc. This edition has a sort of steel-grey background with an iceberg on the cover. There's also some great fan stuff, extra videos, wallpaper, documentary.

Pick it up if you like them at all. If you only like them a little, I expect it'll make you like them more. I was happy to have spent the $20.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cranberries to the last song, October 8, 2002
By
adeljune Torres (Al Ain United Arab Emirates) - See all my reviews
This is one concert that I have watched from the opening to the last song. Aside from the music, one should observe the way the band members look at each other. They enjoy what they do. I like the way Dolores observes her shadow while she dances. The song I like most is 'Just My Imagination'. The part where they showed a photo shoot is really interesting. It showed the band in a lighter side which reminds us of ordinary people being self conscious infront of a camera. Just make sure you still find time for your family because you might get glued to the screen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic entertainment, April 23, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I'm fairly new to the Cranberries, but "The Cranberries - Beneath the Skin - Live in Paris" is an eye-opener to what I've been missing. Dolores O'Riordan performs before a massive live audience in Paris, and she leads her band members on a performance that makes the DVD viewer both feel like they are there, and also wish that they actually were there. Dolores exhibits casual confidence, musical talent, engaging charm, and outright sexiness in this performance before a very appreciative audience in Paris, France in late 1999. Dolores' male band members can be seen showing signs of admiration for their band leader. And ladies - there is something here for you, too. During "Zombie", drummer Fergal Lawler completely shucks his shirt to complement some lively bareback drumming.
