I got this because I knew in advance that my tap water was 'hard'. In the drop humidifier instructions (which you don't read until you have purchased the thing) it says - note: It is recommended you used filtered or distilled water. The reason is because the minerals in tap water will cause some white dust to come from the machine. And I guess over time it will cause the unit to not work properly. Anyway I got this thing and they don't list here that it should be replaced after 30-40 refills - and you refill every day. That means the life of the filter is around a month. Just consider this expense if you have hard water like almost everyone does.

The filter itself is around 3x5 inches. It fits in there just fine. You have to soak it for 30 minutes before you put it in the machine.

I got this to fit my Crane humidifier, which it did. I can't really comment on it's functionality, since you cannot really tell if the vapor is any cleaner. To me, it seemed worth it, at least as a psychological thing. My only complaint it that it's very hard to clean. I have hard water, so the build-up really got in the crevices and is nearly impossible to get out.

We ordered this filter for our Crane drop humidifier EE-5301 as we have pretty hard water in our area. The filter works well and we have stocked up to get us through the winter season. I read the previous reviews and found the filter to fit perfectly. It seems Amazon took care shipping the correct product. I would recommend this filter if you have lots of minerals in the water or use well water

My experience has been outstanding so far. I purchased the hard water filter to go along with my Crane humidifier and it seems to be working well.

Got this filter, started using it - have been using it now for a week and seems to work very well. We are living in an area with hard water, so it was needed.

the filter works well with my Crane Drop shape humidifier. We do have hard water and the filter seems work as stated in the description. I read the previous reviews but this Crane filter does fit my drop humidifier perfectly.

There isn't much to say about a humidifier filter, but my humidifier doesn't seem to work quite right without the filter so I use them.

The filter was super easy to install, not sure how long it will last, but it's certainly easier than hauling the tank downstairs to fill from the Brita. I think it does make the babbling brook/fountain noises from the humidifier somewhat louder.

Purchased this filter and a new Crane Drop humidifier. When I got the filter and humidifier, the filter does not fit. When I contacted Crane, they told me that the old version of the filter does not fit the new version of the Drop models, and that they have asked retailers not to sell this version of the filter. However, I just received it from Amazon. I would not risk it if you have a new version of the Crane Drop humidifier.

So happy to have this. Love my drop humidifier. It works beautifully and is so pretty in my living room. thanks.
