4.0 out of 5 stars Thomas Tank Humdifier cooling mist
This is a very cute product and sure to be a hit with any Thomas fan. The vapor shoots up out of the steam pipe, the nightlight is nice, and Thomas is adorable. BUT There is a product flaw--the light bulb casing under the water tank comes off and floods the room/table. We had to reglue it once so far--after only five fill ups. Hopefully we'll find a solid fix for it...

1.0 out of 5 stars Cute, but poorly made
I am getting ready to throw away my child's 2nd Thomas the Tank Humidifier in 4 months. There is a small piece of plastic in the tank that covers the night light on the base that has broken on both of the units. Without this little piece of plastic, the water will not stay in the tank and pours out EVERYWHERE! It is a very cute concept and very appealing to children,...

1.0 out of 5 stars CRANE Thomas the Tank needs to goto SODOR for repair!!!!, March 24, 2007
This review is from: Crane Thomas the Train Cool Mist Humidifier (Kitchen)
As with the last reviewer, that clear little plastic piece designed to light up the tank fell into the tank after the third time we filled it. Then water leaked everywhere, including onto the electronics. Apparently the plastic is simply glued into the tank and with even the slightest touch it falls back inside. When you place the tank back onto Thomas this piece fits over the other clear plastic piece that houses the actual bulb light. This apparently is enough to cause the piece to loosen and fall into the tank. There is no way to fix this or any warning NOT to touch it. In the course of normal filling its almost guaranteed you will touch this at some time. I dont know about you, but mixing toddlers, water and electricity is a recipe for DISASTER!!

CHILDREN SHOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED ANYWHERE NEAR THIS PRODUCT!! THIS IS A MAJOR DEFECT AND SAFETY HAZARD!!!! THE PRODUCT SHOULD BE RECALLED!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Plastic light cover fell off on first refill, November 24, 2008

This is a nice humidifier, with cool vapor coming out the smoke stack and a light to make the train glow at night, like a big night light. However, to make the train light up, a blue light bulb protrudes up into the water reservoir, protected by a small transparent cap that is part of the reservoir itself. That cap is simply press fitted into the water reservoir - from the inside! The cap fell out on the first refill and is very difficult to get back in position - one has to rattle it around, balance it on the end of a pencil inserted through the hole and lower it back into the hole. That done, the fit is so loose that it just falls out again. Some glue might fix it, but for now we have an expensive night light.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Humidifier, February 11, 2010

My Kid loves this humidifier.
I haven't had any problems with the light breaking off causing the tank to leak as others complained about. I think they might have fixed it.

Positives:
1. Crane Humidifier: Doesn't have a filter, hence I dont need to spend money on filters. (this is my 4th crane :))
2. Doubles as a nightlight (thomas can turn blue) with an easy switch located on the middle wheel

Negatives:

1. Hard(er) to clean then the typical Crane's as the part that creates the fine mist/smoke it under Thomas' smokestack (which is not removable)

All in all this is a great Humidifier that my son and his friends love (they are 3 years old) They love it when i turn it up high and "smoke" starts billowing out of the smoke stack.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great for us!, May 31, 2009

Our 3 year old was diagnosed with Reactive Airway Disease. We had been using a regular cool mist humidifier and our pediatrician recommended getting an ultrasonic model. He's a big Thomas fan, so we thought we would give this a try. We've been using about 10 hours each day, for nap and all night, for over 3 months and haven't had any issue with it. It immediately puts out vapor and is easily adjustable. I do recommend getting the filter for it and replacing it every month. It's worked great for us and I recommend it. It's unfortunate that others have not had the same experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reliable, works great, wonderful display piece, November 20, 2010
This review is from: Crane Thomas the Train Cool Mist Humidifier (Kitchen)
We've had our Thomas humidifier, and other Crane humidifiers for many years and bring them out every fall to spring to get the humidity in our house up. The Thomas one has been with us for 2-3 years now. It's very reliable and we have experienced no problems with it. All we do is some semi-regular cleaning with diluted vinegar/water every once in awhile (like maybe twice in a season). The 1 gallon tank is pretty easy to fill and lasts for a pretty long time. We fill it up maybe every 2 days, and that's with prolonged use and high settings. There is no filter, so no expensive filters needed for operation.

The fun factor is what really sets this humidifier apart from almost ALL other humidifiers, even other cute Crane models. First of all, if you have a Thomas affectionado in your house (i.e. 2-5 y/o) this is a great decorative piece for their bedroom or kitchen. Many other family friends have seen it and remarked how much they like it.
Some of it's fun features include:
1. All dials (three) are in the hub of the wheels. L for on/off. M for a light inside Thomas that makes him a nice glowing blue. R to control output of the humidifier.
2. Directional smokestack that allows you to point the mist output. The mist out from the smokestack really adds "realism" to the humidifier and makes Thomas seem alive.
3. The bumper on the front and rear have two lights that signal if you've run out of water. All 4 are green when okay, and turn turn red when the humidifier runs out of water.

Just a wonderful decorative "toy" that serves an extremely useful purpose (keeping the humidity up). Highly recommended for those train lovers who are 2-5 y/o.

(And with Target, if there is a unfortunate problem, you can return it in 90 days.)

5.0 out of 5 stars 4th year - Still works great, December 14, 2011
This review is from: Crane Thomas the Train Cool Mist Humidifier (Kitchen)
I would never spend on toy like anything unless they are real toys. But I got this at very low price and it had good reviews. I did not go wrong with my investment.

Pros:
Looks nice in kids room. When its on, its a real huffing and puffing train, except it does not move. Kids like that.
The tank come with handle, easy to carry and fill. The handle slides back into the tank
works great.
Adjustable output

cons: Not so easy to clean. When on full output, water puddles near the unit.

Some helpful hints:
Place humidifier at least 2feet above ground, and it helps to circulate nicely if it is near air vent.
Turn on ceiling fan (winter mode, reverse spin) at low speed.

No more stuffy noses and dry skin

5.0 out of 5 stars More than a year, November 4, 2011
This review is from: Crane Thomas the Train Cool Mist Humidifier (Kitchen)
I bought this humidifier about a year ago for my son's room. He was getting nose bleeds every couple of days and this was the first step to help take care of them. I needed something he would want to use every night and he loved this design. Part of me was worried because of reading bad reviews but I went ahead and bought it anyway. I am SO glad I did. I have not had a single problem with this thing and we have run it almost every night since we got it. I wipe it down every time I refill it which is about every 4 days. And I try to really take it apart and clean it (with white vinegar) once a month. It's easy to adjust and the night light is great. My son loves it. The only very minor drawback I have found is that once it is full it's a little hard to carry since you aren't supposed to only use the carrying handle. I am guessing that part of the design was sacrificed to make it look like Thomas. Not only do I love how the product itself works but it is doing it's job, we rarely see a bloody nose anymore.

Bottom line: Don't let the negative reviews scare you away from buying this. It's AMAZING and worth every penny.

1.0 out of 5 stars okay, until burned a hole and melted plastic, June 15, 2011
This review is from: Crane Thomas the Train Cool Mist Humidifier (Kitchen)
I have this in my children's room. It had worked probably 20 times, until it just burned a hole in the plastic and melted two parts of the humidifier. It is thrown away, and I will be contacting the company.
