Well-told tales of love, friendship and giving, March 14, 2002

Elizabeth Falconer's sensitivity as a musician and storyteller are front and center on this disc. Her thoughtful reworking of three ancient Japanese fairy tales is multifacted, in terms of viewpoint (the title track), message, imagery and much more. The CD is labelled "for ages 10 and up" -- if I'm a good test case, that means "ages 10-100."
A bonus: two solo pieces for koto, which fit beautifully with the themes of the stories and the musical motifs used therein. (Great sound effects, too!)
