2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
If you like the original game play, this edition is not for you. The different board set up and the timer that controls the category kinda sucks. It is nice to have the new cards but I like the way the original board was set up. Hard to play some of the new categories with just a team of two. Better off with the original game.

Wow! I thought the original Cranium was an awesome game! The Turbo edition cranks it up and improves whatever minor flaws were in the original. Turbo edition has all of the best elements of the original, including combining activities from other games such as Pictionary, Charades, Name that Tune, Trivial Pursuit, and others and putting them into one game. Yet the turbo edition ADDS new features, such as a musical timer that will also randomly select a category for the current team, Turbo cards that have more than one activity on them and determine how many spaces your team will move (depending on how many activities you complete), and new categories such as MINDMELD, where team partners write down what comes to mind when given a topic and must match at least one thing; ODD COUPLE, where team members must select the two things that do not belong out of a list of five; and SIDESHOW, where one team member must move another team member like a puppet to act out words on the cards. There's a new way to win using the Turbo cards, too! I highly recommend this edition to upgrade Cranium fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a Great Game!!!, December 5, 2004

We started out a quiet group, thinking we'd play just a few minutes to check out the game I received as a gift. One guy was pretty skeptical. He's tired of trivia games that reward accumulated otherwise somewhat useless knowledge.
Within five minutes, we were all laughing and the skeptic was taking off his shirt in an attempt to convey "Naked Chef." Thanks to the wonderful timer, he stopped at the shirt!!! His partner, by the way, did get the answer, even though he had never heard the program. And that's the greatest thing about this game. It rewards co-operation, but has enough competition to keep things interesting. Unlike Monopoly, which seems to bring out the worst in players (I stopped playing it years ago, after some pretty nasty sessions), this game makes you feel good about your self and your team mates and the opposition. You laugh with, not at each other.
The game is visually appealing and the directions are easy to follows. The timer is easy and fun to use. (We are still debating if the music is based on the theme from Mission Impossible.)

What a great ice-breaker. I can hardly wait to play it with a larger group.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet!, December 16, 2004
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars

I fell in love with the original Cranium after one game. But the turbo edition has actually gone a couple of steps beyond the original's awesomeness. It plays faster, the board is simplified (who wasn't at least a little confused by the old "fast track"?), and the new timer adds a hilarious crazy-Japanese-game-show feeling to the whole thing. Cranium is a blast with a group of old friends, but the cool thing is, add a couple of new people into the mix, and you will quickly feel like you've known them for years. Monopoly is dead! Long live Cranium!

5.0 out of 5 stars My new favorite game!, December 30, 2004

coming from someone that has only played the original cranium once, I was blown away by the Turbo edition. It was amazing to see how everyone was so into the game play even when it wasn't their turn. The types and variety of questions made this game a lot of fun and continuously interesting. Cranium brings aspects of all your favorite games into one! Even the modeling clay smelled nice! The actual gameplay was very easy to understand. The only drawback was the timer/question selector. We had to silence it a bit and it took some time for everyone to figure out how long to hold it down for it to work. It was also a bit hard to hear over it during the singing questions. overall - a GREAT game that could never get old!

5.0 out of 5 stars This game ROCKS!, December 29, 2004

So I have been a lover of Cranium (the original) for years. The formula for parties is great, everyone can master at least a few of the skills requires so all stay excited and engaged. This new release adds even more skills to the mix so you are constantly having to switch your thinking. In addition it adds a little electronic doohickey to substitute for dice. Now, I don't normally go in for gimmicky stuff like this, and I can't say that I have ever met a board game with batteries that I liked, but this thing is pretty cool. It doubles as the dice element, adding some randomness, and as the timer, pretty cool. I also enjoy the little song it plays. I got this game right before the holidays and took it home to play with the family. I have always played with my piers (23 - 30) and was pleased to find that my parents, and even my grandmother thought it was totally entertaining. Get this game, it rocks!

5.0 out of 5 stars It'll have you laughing in no time!, December 4, 2008
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars

From a person with a family of five, I have to say this game is definitely hilarious and fun! To describe the game, you get the four categories, Creative cat, Word worm, Data head, and Star performer. There're regular cards and turbo cards. You get turbo cards on the brain (for whatever color you are you get that one) which contain three things to do, example: Cloodle (drawing) you would have to draw a cat, dog and horse. And forget dice, this one comes with a timer/how-many-spaces-you-move-thing and what activity. Though doing Humdingers is hard with the timer on (my brother usually mutes the crap out of it) though it's doable. All-in-all great game that'll have you doubling over in laughter!

Pros: New cards, activities, a timer, the clay's of better quality.
Cons: Timer's somewhat loud.

5.0 out of 5 stars My New Favorite Board Game!, January 16, 2008
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

I was skeptical at first, but this game has something for everyone. Creative people will probably enjoy it more because of all the drawing, humming, charades, and sculpting. The non creative categories involve answering trivia questions, solving anagrams, and spelling words backwards. But the questions are not as hard as, say, Trivial Pursuit. The game is challenging and fun, but does require a knowledge of pop culture. I would say that this game would be best enjoyed by people aged 25 to 55, and who possess average or above average intelligence. The uber-geniuses might be bored, and the non creative would definitely feel tortured. This game is also best played by a larger number of people. The minimum you need is 4 players (2 teams of 2) but having teams of 3 people is better.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite Game!, May 23, 2007

Cranium Turbo Edition is a great game! Best played in larger groups if you like a lot of hoopla - although it works when you have only 4 people as well. You'll be holding your sides laughing watching people try to hum, do puppet charades, regular charades, etc. It has trivia, word puzzles, sculpting and charade type activities.

The only reason I would give it a 4 on durability is because the sculpting clay does become unusable after awhile.

Overall a ton of family or friend fun!!!!
