5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST have toy for kids!
My 5 year old son got this for Christmas 2006. Over 6 months later it is a reliable fav for our kids (1, 5, 7) and visiting kids (most have never seen it). Yes, the forts are NOT sturdy - SO WHAT? What fort that your kids ever makes, IS???? Endless creativity, team-building (ok - some arguing), nonstop activity. I'm most impressed with the creativity portion. I don't...

1.0 out of 5 stars Great Idea, but not as good as the Invent A Tent
I already had a Invent A Tent that my kids have loved. So when I saw the cranium fort I had to buy it as well. While the concept is the same, the cranium is not as good. The Invent A Tent is a lot bigger and has enough material to cover any fort built. The Cranium tent is a lot smaller, not as kid friendly and I found that the material only covers about half of the forts...

What fort that your kids ever makes, IS???? Endless creativity, team-building (ok - some arguing), nonstop activity. I'm most impressed with the creativity portion. I don't think my kids have ever made the same thing twice. And they incorporate parts of this fort with other play (like using a nylon wall for a trampoline for stuffed animals). I also like how it comes with a couple nice sacks for putting things away when you really want the mess gone. I HIGHLY recommend this product if you're thinking about it - get it! Enjoy!

My children love this toy. We have built boats, space ships, buses and forts with it using a little imagination. The structure is so simple even my 3 year old can snap pieces together and my 6 year old loves it. It is simple to assemble and stores away nicely. We can't say enough good things about this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rainy Day Fun, January 15, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cranium Super Fort (Toy)
The Super Fort is terrific rainy day entertainment for our 6 year old. Her imagination has taken her to tea parties in castles, piloting heliocopters to rescue lost puppies and camping out in the woods -- all in her living room. She loves snapping together the pieces and building all sorts of neat configurations -- and the take down is just as easy. She delights in making all the pieces and parts fit back in the handy carry bag to stow away in her closet. And the whole thing is light enough for her to carry. Of course, she is lobbying for more sections so she can build a tunnel all through the house.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's fun but..., January 9, 2007
This review is from: Cranium Super Fort (Toy)
Bought this for 4 children to use. They had a lot of fun builing forts, but the finished products were always just barely big enough for one child to play in comfortably. Still, It was great to see cooperative play while they built different structures and the pieces really were easy to use. There are A LOT of pieces to keep track of in one box.
I was disapointed with the size of the possible structures that could be built, but since this didn't seem to faze my kids, I'm giving the product 4 stars.

P.S. some pieces have small magnetic parts that could easily be swallowed if they were to break away from the bigger whole piece (this happened to us- we had 2 little magnetic squares pieces on the floor after clean-up) so I would really supervise kids under 4 that play with older siblings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Creative fun, December 27, 2006
This review is from: Cranium Super Fort (Toy)
My daughter (7.5 years) and son (almost 5) each got a set for Christmas. Santa already had them set up in different configurations. The kids had a BLAST pretending their structures were different things. Didn't take long before my daughter figured out that you could rebuild differently. Pretty soon they were working together to invent new structures. They combined their kits to make an extra large fort for a sleepout Christmas night.

Today my daughter set up a new fort in her room, after calculating how to make a fort that would fit in the small weirdly shaped open area in her room. My son is pretending that his is a castle.

It's not super stable -- you can't climb on it like a jungle gym -- but it's fine. It's not going to collapse on them or anything. Just explain to the kids to use the orange bars for the uprights, and the yellow bars for everything else.

And now my dining room chairs and all my blankets will stay in their appropriate places! :-)

1.0 out of 5 stars Extreme Disappointment!, January 11, 2007
This review is from: Cranium Super Fort (Toy)
Very, very disappointed with this product. I was expecting something much sturdier. It can barely stand on it's own and when you add my three year old daughter to the mix, forget it. The fort doesn't stand a chance. I purchased this item as a Christmas gift for my daughter and it is the WORST toy she got for x-mas! If you're looking for something your kids can play with and have fun with do not buy this product. I would suggest getting a regular pop-up tent used for camping, it will be much sturdier and will withstand an active child. I expected more from a company such as Cranium.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very cool for little builders !, January 15, 2007
This review is from: Cranium Super Fort (Toy)
So your kid likes to build pillow houses out of the couch cushions ?
This baby if for you ! Easy for little ones to build and create, great fun for dad as well. Don't expect your couch to stay together, but at least there is something for
them pillows to lean against now.
I purchased this fir my daughter 4 then) and she still plays with it almost two years later. Just got one for my nephew (20 and he loves cruising around in it (dad and big brother are always ready to help build something).
Stores nicely except for the bag which keeps falling open. Needs two traps instead of naps (I use two extra back packing straps and it keeps everything together).
Lasts long and gets played with, what else could you want ?

2.0 out of 5 stars not as good as toydle forts, December 15, 2009
= Durability:2.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Cranium Super Fort (Toy)
This is just an example of someone taking a timeless, classic idea like fort building and making it flashy and plastic. I have a toydle fort as well and the toydle fort is bigger, stronger, and better. And it really is just regular pipe and wood blocks as connectors. It has sort of a nostalgic feel to it. Cranium fort is smaller, feels cheaper, and doesn't give the same classic feel as a real indoor fort. Don't by the cranium fort when you can the same, if not less, on something way bigger and better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Fort is Super Fun!, January 16, 2007
This review is from: Cranium Super Fort (Toy)
My 4- and 5-year-old boys LOVE demolishing the sofa and using the cushions to build forts, houses and hideouts. The Cranium Super Fort hasn't exactly replaced that, but it has definitely added to the creativity and fun. This is a great toy for kids to exercise their imaginations to build spaceships, clubhouses, trains - whatever they dream up. The pieces are sturdy and easy to fit together, and when not being used, all fit into a zip-up case. I'm thinking of buying another one so the boys can build bigger creations and maybe leave my sofa alone...

One word of caution - the bendable pieces that create the framework of the fort can leave a mark. My son accidentally thwacked himself in the cheek when he first used the pieces, so beware of the springiness.
