This series is, bar none, the best assemblage of crossword puzzles I've come across. I've been a Will Shortz fan for quite a while, so I've done a *lot* of puzzles. I bought Short'z "favorite puzzles" and it was just one pun-themed puzzle after another, with a title that basically handed the solution scheme to you. This collection is very unique, featuring many interesting twists and challenges. I'm surprised Gordon isn't better known. Just wonderful.

As a devoted fan of puzzles edited by Will Shortz, I wasn't sure if Peter Gordon could rise to the same level. But I'm happy to report that these books are equally challenging and fun! I also purchased "Killer Thursday Crosswords" and am loving both books. Note to buyers who start with the first puzzle in "Cranium Crushing Friday Crosswords"; don't underestimate the difficulty, but don't be discouraged by it either.
As an aesthetic aside, the book has high quality thick white paper with bold print, perfect for solving in ink if you are so inclined.
