This is a COOL toy. If you have creative kids (you know the type-- they're the kids who love cardboard boxes), this is the toy for them. It's expensive, but it is one of the most versatile toys I've ever seen. It works indoors and outdoors. It is engaging for a variety of ages and genders (my oldest child is 8, my youngest is 1): The older kids love inventing buildings (the ideas included, like the ship and hot air balloon, are wonderful also) and everyone, including the two year old loves playing in it. The boys like making battle forts, the girls make play houses and theaters. And there are enough parts to build two-room forts so you can have a battle at one end and a puppet show at the other. When you're done, it comes apart quickly and neatly into the nylon bag. That's a huge plus if you have space issues. The only problem with this set is that Cranium discontinued the product and Hasbro bought Cranium so you can not get spare parts for it. What a shame. The instructions include a parts list and I highly recommend a plastic box for the connectors and clips-- one that will fit in the nylon bag (the bag is included)... we just practice our counting when we put the items away to make sure we got all our parts back. Seriously fun. If there are any toy makers out there who read this, please bring this toy series back!!!

Very, very cool!, October 3, 2009

I bought this for my 2 year old's birthday. We have four kids, and they all enjoy building forts--meaning dragging all the kitchen chairs into the living room and draping blankets overtop--so I thought it would be a good idea for all. This toy has met my expectations. The connectors are easy enough to use that my 2 year old can connect and disconnect them easily. My 10 year old and 8 year old enjoy making forts on their own, and my 3 year old and 2 year old like to "direct" me to make their ideas a reality. They then take all their dolls and stuffed animals inside, and hang out until they're ready to tear it all down again. The toy seems durable, and a nice feature is that it can be taken apart and stored in a cloth bag quickly. We're very happy with it, and I would recommend this toy to anyone who's tired of hearing, "No!! Don't ruin our fort!!" when the chairs are needed for dinner. :)

We recently played with this at a friend's house and then had to go home and buy one. It was fun for both young (2.5yrs) and old (8 yrs) and even the adults got into it.
