3.0 out of 5 stars Springs break often, too often
I had those for 2 years - the spring broke exactly every 1000 miles put on the road bike. This is the annoyance, as you have to have two sets of pedals - the warranty repair takes a few weeks.

Otherwise than that, it is a very good pedal - easy to clip in and out, relatively light and good looking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Pedals, July 9, 2011

I was hesitant at first due to the price of pedals and shoes, but I cannot be happier with my purchase. Rides are so much smoother and easier due to the help from the pedal. I found entry into the pedal tough at first, but it was expected due to never owning a clipless pedal. Exiting the pedal is a snap, and my friends that own SPD style say that they wish they had eggbeaters! Great purchase, great product!

5.0 out of 5 stars Egg Beat C, July 21, 2010

These are a great pedal for mountain biking, however, they are even more practical as a road pedal. If you like simple, durable and practical clipless pedals, then these are the ticket. Easy to get into, low profile for better clearance and durable. I would recommend the silver version of this pedal, only because they will last for years and only show minimal wear. If you use mountain bike shoes for your road bike, the cleat will be recessed below the tread, the cleat fits perfectly to the pedal and you can still walk on pavement without the cleats hitting the ground. Excellent choice for a road or mountain pedal.

5.0 out of 5 stars No complaints so far!, January 28, 2009

It's winter, so I've only ridden indoors on the trainer, but these are my first clipless pedals, and they seem pretty easy to get in/out of. Installation was fast and easy. Thinking about getting another set for my other bike so I can switch back and forth easily.

5.0 out of 5 stars killer pedals, November 6, 2007
These pedals are hands down the best I have ever used. Easy to clip in and out of, sheds mud like a champ, and solid. Very easy to regrease to make them feel like new again.

5.0 out of 5 stars great pedals with easy in/out, November 17, 2009
I ordered the MXR pedals, but the shop was out so they sent me these upgraded ones instead for the same price (a great deal). Anyway, those are so much better than the half platform/half shimano clip pedals I had before to try being clipped some of the time - "Sunlite Bicycle Clipless" - (knock off the Shimano PD-M324 Clipless/Clip Pedals). They are so easy to pull out now that I am always clipped even for DH and technical sections, where I originally thought I would use platforms instead so I could easily bail out if needed.

It takes a few rides (maybe dozen +) for them to loosen up where it is really easy to get out (I still catapult at times, btu never had issue still being connected, unlike my other ones) and don't come undone unless I hit my foot on a trunk or something. To get in, you roll your foot forward or back until you hear a bit of metal, then press down. Pretty easy to get in. And they look so nice and minimalist !

love those things.

Only down side: they are a rather small surface (maybe candy would be better ? I got to demo soem for a short 30 min ride, but didn't pay much attention as I was demoing the bike really). My shows are not supper stiff (I can hike with them) so I can fell a bit of a pressure point during long uphill rides - which then reminds me to use the pull and not just the push of my legs (since I'm attached) which is much more efficient anyway, so I don't mind :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Famous egg beater pedals, August 4, 2010

This review is from: Crank Brothers Egg Beater C Mountain Bike Pedals (Sports)
This is the first egg beater I've purchased. I am using this on a road bike I use for work commuting and potentially small grocery shopping. I like the small size of the cleats, similar to spd cleats but a smidge smaller. I am still getting use to engaging the pedals from the start, they are not quite as intuitive as speedplays for the road. I am counting on this design for the sloppier conditions I run into during commutes. So we shall see how that plays out. One star off just cause I am not thrilled with the initial pedal engagement.
