nice pedal for the price,

I bought these pedals to install on my Surly Long Haul Trucker. Familiar with the eggbeater platform, and crankbrothers' products, I was interested in finding something to match my setup on my other bikes. The construction of the egg beater platform part of this pedal is robust as usual, but the grey plastic housing, when dropped, gets banged up pretty bad. I have no doubt that this product will hold up over the next few years' worth of moderate touring and commuting, and that crankbrothers is a stand-up company when it comes to customer service. The cheap plastic housing is the only negative as far as I can tell on this product, but for $50 or so you can't beat having a quality clipless product. They feel as familiar as any crankbrothers eggbeater product and clip in and out very easily. I recommend this product as an "everyday", economical pedal. Reasonably priced, and you get what you pay for - quality with no extra fuzz.

These are my 1st pair of clipless pedals and I really like them. They are easy to get in and out of once you get used to them which doesn't take long at all. I'm sure they are not the lightest or the most advanced but who cares? They get the job done and make a huge difference in your ride. (more than i thought before i bought them)

I rolled shimano's on my mtbike before I got these.Candys have a lot of advantages. *They're easier to get in to. *No clogging up with Mud/Ice/etc. *You can pedal around the parking lot without having to throw on your bike shoes, which is useful when you're doing repairs/adjustments. If you really want to spice these up, grab a pair of aftermarket Titanium spindles and drop some grams. Cheapo upgrade that turns these into $300 pedals instantly. The only negative is that they can be a dog to get out of if you're used to shimano style clips. There is no brute force pulling out of them. The ONLY way out is by angling your foot 15-20 degrees. I felt like with my SPD's I could muscle my way out in an "Oh Crap" situation, but not so with the eggbeater design. Train your exit strategy before your find yourself in a poor situation.

As a relatively new biker, I was looking for a high quality set of pedals without breaking the bank. These certainly fill that niche for me. I would say that they wouldn't be comfortable without cycle shoes for any amount of time, but the platform does seem to be a nice added benefit. What can I say.... They are what I was looking for!

Simple to Use...,

I had these pedals for more than 9 months and love them. They are easy to get in and out of and love that they are nut bulky and that you can pedal when not clipped in. Plus side does not matter. The trick with clipping in is the shims - those paper thin things that come with the brass clips. Initially I did not use the shims when I put the clips on my Shimano MT42 - It was impossible to clip in correctly. I added the shims, and man what a paper thin thing can do. I clipped in and out fairly quickly after that. Have I fallen? Sure, but as many of you know if you have clips you either have fallen and will fall, and in most cases it goes like "i forgot to unclip", "I unclipped the wring foot", or "I uncliiped one fot and lost my balance". Most of us eventually develop strategies to avoid falling. I use the Candy C on my Specialized Cross Trail, and don't reccomend them on Road bikes which will will give you more power transafer with Road bike pedals. I do reccomend them for hybrids or moutain bikes. If you are a Moutain Bikes who will put your bike through abuse, consider something other than the plastic version of this pedal because ribbing plastic on stone will wear it out quickly.

Nice pedals, easy to get in and out of with a little practice. Don't make the same mistake I made by hosing your pedals out after each ride. Water will get in to these, rust the spindles and contaminate the cartridge bearings. I though I was taking care of mine but one of the cartridge bearings failed suddenly causing my pedal to come right off the spindle. I used a wire brush to clean up the spindles and bought a refurb kit, but no luck. My shoes even with new cleats would not stay clipped in. I guess the inner egg-beater mechanism (body assembly) was worn out and I just needed new pedals. Only gave these 4 stars as they have only lasted about 1,000 miles for me and the refurb kit didn't help.

this are my first clipless pedals, and they have worked great!I was a little intimidated at first because they said these are not adjustable like some Shimano pedals, but really it is not that hard to clip in and release, so even if you are a beginner in clipless, you'll do fine with these. Also, dirt and mudd does not stay stuck on these pedals. Highly recommended!!! go for a pair of these!!
