5.0 out of 5 stars Great pump!, July 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Crank Brothers Power Alloy Bicycle Pump (Sports)
I purchased this pump because I wanted to carry it along with me on rides. It has a very compact form factor and easily fits into a bag. It came with a cover that protects the gauge and head, but it does not really have much of a mount to the bike frame (mine came with zip-ties...). So if you are hoping to mount it to your bike it is a somewhat questionable assembly. Otherwise, I really like this pump. It has a built in pressure gauge, which is great for setting your tires to the correct PSI. It connects easily and can use both "styles" of valve stems: Schrader and Presta. It does take a bit of time to ensure a good connection, otherwise the pump may not seal and will not inflate the tire. However, this is easily accomplished by clasping the pump to the valve stem and adjusting the ring around the valve port until tight and the connection is secure. Lastly, the pump has the ability to do "high pressure" and "high volume". These settings are great! The high volume delivers 100% of the air per stroke and is great when first inflating a tire. As you reach higher pressures, the high pressure function gives less than 100% air per stroke, making it much easier to pump at the higher PSI. I have easily filled my tires to 60PSI; however, I doubt the pump could make it much beyond that. Overall this pump is great for both low and medium pressure tires, has a good gauge (I checked it against another and it is accurate), and easily switches between high volume and high pressure use. I recommend it!

2.0 out of 5 stars good design but difficult to use, June 29, 2008
i bought this pump based on the recommendation of a sales associate at my neighborhood bike store. prior to first use, it was very appealling - small, mountable, and had a built in pressure gauge. however, this pump was very difficult to use. i was able to easily get my bike tire inflated to about 50 psi. then, it took a bit more work to get it to 60 psi. after that, forget it. aside from the fact that i had to use more force to pump, the pump kept popping off of the valve. i'm not idiot or anything; everything was done right. it's just difficult to use. i'd stay away from this and any other pump that doesn't incorporate a tube-hose of some sort. again, gotta give them credit for design, but you'll just tire yourself and get frustrated using this thing.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wouldn't buy for Presta Valve, November 25, 2011
This pump is very difficult to use with a Presta Valve. I've used it twice to air up my bicycle and have come away with blistered palms both times. There is a problem with the way the pump connects with the bike stem. I insert the valve as far as possible, but the pump doesn't make good contact with the valve spindle so the valve doesn't open. I've burped the valve to make sure it wasn't stuck, but the pump just doesn't open the valve.
