5.0 out of 5 stars sensational
This is an absurdly overlooked CD by one of the best rock bands of the last 15 years. Full of typically strong HG songs with plenty of hooks and some of the trademark darkness we've come to expect from this band. These guys are the Meat Puppets of Australia, a great band all but ignored by radio stations.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's ok. Worth having for a few songs
As far as the gurus go. This album is good for about 2 or 3 songs. The rest of the album seems like they got too carried away. If you haven't heard the 80's gurus stuff, then start with that.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE RIGHT TIME IS THE BEST SONG OF ALL TIME!, August 30, 1999

It doesn't matter what kind of music you like, if you don't like 'The Right Time'... well... I don't know about you. This album is OK, but 'The Right Time' makes it 5 stars all the way. Get this album for 'The Right Time'... right now!

4.0 out of 5 stars I have all albums by Hoodoo Gurus..., April 19, 2000

Buy this for "The right time", "Nobody" and "Less than a feeling". I give six stars for the perfect song "Nobody". Its solo blows your cool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid Album, October 1, 2009

Another solid Gurus effort. Personally, I think their first 2 albums with the surfer/garage rock sound are classic Gurus, but from Blow your Cool on they developed a much more polished rock sound which, while not as good as their early efforts, is still Guru-rific. This is a solid follow up to Magnum Cum Louder, which is their best polished album. Many catchy riff here, and definitely worth the minimal investment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Maybe the Greatest Song of All-Time !, January 31, 2005
This review is from: Crank (Audio CD)
Listen to "Less than a Feeling" and then tell me that this was not a great band! I have probably heard that song about 5,000 times and it never gets old! I wish they had recorded a ten minute version of it. Great band!

3.0 out of 5 stars A bitter and angry effort, March 29, 2002
By
This review is from: Crank (Audio CD)
The first few times I listened to Crank, I realized the Hoodoo Gurus were publicly displaying their anger and bitterness at not being a super-star band they expected to be. Song's like Nobody, Less than a Feeling and Hypocrite Blues only reinforced the dark bitter brooding that the Hoodoo Gurus were going through. The Right Time is the only good effort on the CD. The rest of the CD wallows in self-pity and anger. Had this been there last CD, it would have been a poor exit note.

A decent effort by the pop-rock quartet from Australia, but it's not really anything special.
