5.0 out of 5 stars rockin' soundtrack..., November 9, 2006
This review is from: Crank (Audio CD)
Loved the movie, loved the soundtrack even more. Hearing the songs i remember from the 80's put into a hard core movie like this was such a trip. Takes me back to the good old days. :)

The big bonus on the cd is actual clips from the movie before certain songs. Though the sticker on the cd told you about the snippets from the movie it still was so unexpected.

great job to the producers and everyone who put this great soundtrack together!

This review is from: Crank (Audio CD)
*Film dialogue ("...a warrior's death...I know you'd get off on it."). A good prelude to the album.
*"Metal Health" by Quiet Riot. Awesome, loud hair-metal song. Great guitars and vocals.
*Film dialogue ("nasal spray, it's got epinephrin(?) in it."). Good lead-in for the next song.
*"Trix Are For Kids" by The Crowd. Vocals are pretty darn loud and obnoxious, but it's kind of funny, short, and has good guitars.
*Film dialogue ("If you stop, you die."). Funny to hear on a CD!
*"Bandera" by Control Machete. Hispanic rap song. Strange vocals, but has a good beat.
*Film dialogue ("This coverage is live and uncensored..."). Also funny to hear on a CD.
*"New Noise" by Refused. Very loud, screamy vocals. But has excellent guitars and beats.
*Film dialogue ("Yo, maybe we should give him more of that Chinese s***t."). Fun.
*"China Town" by Paul Haslinger. This short part of the movie's score is very upbeat and funky.
*Film dialogue ("This here is some hardcore s***t."). Also fun.
*"Kill All the White Man" by NOFX. Reggae song with good beat and guitar, but has some strange lyrics that can either be seen as hilarious or offensive. It's still a very novel track to have.
*Film dialogue (some guy laughing). Also fun.
*"Everybody's Talkin'" by Harry Nilsson. Soft acoustic pop/rock song with some nice vocals and lyrics. It's nice, but also kind of sappy.
*Film dialogue ("You always said you wanted to be more spontaneous."). It's alright.
*"Turn Me Loose" by Loverboy. Awesome guitars, strong beat, good vocals. Very good song.
*"Haitian Cab Ride" by Paul Haslinger. Another short piece of the score, with good percussion and soft guitar. Makes for a good short chill-out track.
*"Achy Breaky Heart" by Jarrett & Long. Well, this song has pretty good guitars and vocals. But seriously...YUCK!!!
*Film dialogue ("Chest on fire...check! But you're cold...check!"). Funny.
*"Adrenalina" by David Rolas featuring 10 West and Jimi Barrz. Another Hispanic rap song. Has solid beat, good fast vocals, and a good overall sound.
*Film dialogue ("Actually...um...I kill people."). It's alright.
*"Bring Us Bullets" by Rockets from the Crypt. High-tempo rock song with strong guitars and trumpets. Very good, upbeat rock.
*Film dialogue (answering machine message). It's alright.
*"Let's Get It On" by Gerald Levert. Solid beat and good smooth vocals. A good soul song (but I've heard it so many times that I hate it).
*"Does She Know?" by Paul Haslinger. Short, soft instrumental track with synthesized sounds. A pleseant interlude.
*"Stayin' Alive" by The Sleeping. An awesome rock remake of the disco song. Great guitars, beats, and vocals.
*Film dialogue ("How much of this stuff did it say to take?"). It's alright.
*"Meva Juan" by Roberto Tuscon featuring Erica Garcia. Some kind of latino salsa song. Pretty good beat and vocals. It's alright.
*Film dialogue ("Juice me!"). It's allright.
*"Guasa, Guasa" by Tego Calderon. Another Hispanic rap song. Beat sample has strong percussiona and some interesting sounds. Vocals are alright.
*Film dialogue ("Honestly, you should be dead already. It's a miracle."). Good for the last dialogue in the album.
*"Miracles" by Jefferson Starship. Soft pop/rock song, good vocals and instruments. Good end for the album.

This album has a large mix of songs, both good and bad. There are a few great rock songs, a few rap songs I don't mind, and a few good pieces of the movie's score. I really don't care much for "Achy Breaky Heart", "Everybody's Talkin'", or "Let's Get It On", but at the very least, they are novelties, and somebody else is sure to enjoy them. If you're looking for a varied mix (or if you just liked the movie's music), then I would reccomend this CD.

This would also be a good compliment to the "Shoot 'Em Up" soundtrack.
