Product Description

CRANK YANKERS - SEASON 1 - UNCENSORED features outrageous crank calls from well-known comedians to real people and delivered to viewers through puppets called the "Crank Yankers" who live in the make-believe world called Yankerville. Perhaps the guiltiest of guilty pleasures, Crank Yankers has a way of overcoming one's ethical conflicts about prank phone calls with some very funny examples of the practice. Comic talents Wanda Sykes, Sarah Silverman, Tracy Morgan, Dave Chappelle, and others join the Touchstone Terrorists and musical duo Tenacious D in tormenting innocent people with ridiculous communications. Among the 10 episodes of season 1 is Sykes's outrageous call to an auto mechanic, claiming that someone at the guy's shop defecated in her car. Unlike many of the innocent recipients of Crank Yankers's harassment, the bemused mechanic turns the tables on the crazed woman and goads her into making more ridiculous claims. Elsewhere, a pet shop owner takes a call from an "old woman" (Susie Essman) complaining about her obscene parrot while the bird can be heard calling her "whore" in the background. Other choice moments include an apparently slow-witted comic-book fan (Jordan Rubin) pestering directory assistance for Batman's phone number, a "blind woman" (Lisa Kushell) applying for a job as a stripper (requiring her seeing-eye dog in the act), and a great bit in which a fellow (Denis Leary) convinces a sex-supply store salesman to pretend to be a pizza-delivery man in order to fool Leary's mom. Okay, some of the material in this set is downright cruel, but most of it is relatively harmless, addictive, and occasionally hilarious. --Tom Keogh

Unlike some people, I don't review DVDs until I have actually watched them. This collection includes all 10 first seasons episodes of Crank Yankers, now with the curse words unbleeped. There are still a few bleeps, though; mostly the names of businesses. Like when Terrence calls Spago to make a reservation for Bill Cosby, "Spago" is bleeped. Oddly, though, on the CD version of that call, "Spago" was unbleeped. Watching the early episodes of Crank Yankers, it is interesting to observe some of the ways the show has "evolved" since then. Some of the puppets didn't have quite the same look as they do now. The most notable difference is in Cammie, who was originally a blonde. Also, the show was more experimental during the first season. They tried things like having musical performances and "wise sayings" from Confucius. These bits were later dropped to concentrate entirely on the crank phone calls. The bonus materials on the DVD include a documentary about the making of the show, which is interesting, at least the first time you watch it. There are also two unaired calls, which are not as funny as the calls that actually did air. If you like this show, this DVD set is well produced and worth the money.

I love watching this show... it is entirely too comical. I am a sucker for a good laugh and this show definitely feeds that appetite. I can't wait to collect all of the seasons, especially being that the show is cancelled. I'd have to say this is right up there with my other favorite animated comedies... South Park and King of the Hill.

I love this show. It is sad that they cancelled it, oh whell, maybe they ran out of people to call. anyway, some of my favorite calls on the first season are when elmer calls the fried chicken place and complains about chicken beaks in his chicken bucket. also when the monkey attack call. one more is when jimmy calls the adult toy store and his mom keeps bugging him on the phone. one last one is when helen calls the bag boy at the grocery store and asks him about the cookies and says that she likes him and mentions that she has denture and that comes in... well you know.

After seeing Crank Yankers on Comedy Central my husband and I were excited that it was finally coming out on DVD. Even though we had seen all of them already it was still just as funny the second time around. There's just something funny seeing puppets acting out prank phone calls. If you have a sense of humor you will be laughing for hours:)

Crank Yankers is my favorite TV show on the air. My favorite characters are Cammie (sexy + confident + ignorant = hilarious), Hadassah, and Bobby Fletcher (he can still be funny without the burping). I try to record the shows everytime they come on. But I missed some of the first ones, so having this DVD collection is wonderful. I do think the latter seasons are better though because they don't have all the silly interludes or songs in between each call, which leaves room for more calls!

Down in Yankerville, it's a nice city where anything can happen and it's populated by puppet people who make crank calls to strangers yet with hilarious results. This show is a hilarious and shocking adult puppet show that aired on Comedy Central in 2002 and is now on MTV2, the show is created by Jimmy Kimmel, Daniel Kellison and Adam Carolla with some guest stars like Wanda Sykes, Dave Chappell, Sarah Silverman, David Alan Grier, Tracey Morgan, Billy West, Superdave Osbourne, Jack Black, Ween, and Dennis Leary doing actual prank phone calls to actual people as they are recorded and portrayed by puppets like the Sesame Street kind.

Here on this season features skits like Wanda who complaints about a human log in the backseat of her car, some unfriendly UPS fellows especially Willy, lovable grandpa-esque old man Elmer, retarded fellow Ed, flamboyant millionaire Niles, and other hilarious goodies. It may not be for everyone but it's a damn good comedy puppet show for adults.

This DVD has the show uncensored with puppet nudity and vulger language which were censored with a couple of extras like two unaired calls and a documentary behind this show.

For those who wonder how a dvd set that has not come out can be given 5 stars, well I have two words for you--Special Ed. That character alone is worth the bucks it will take to have this set of dvd. Plus, the cast of guest voices features some really funny folks. If you love great comedy, then BUY THIS DVD SET!!! Dum-dum-dum-dum Yay!!!!
