Colin Buchanan has hit a home run for the beginning student of the Book of Common Prayer. His concise, well documented work on the history of Thomas Cranmer's Prayer Book of the Anglican Church traces the development of not only the texts themselves from 1549 to 1552, but fully discusses the theology motivating the Archbishop's reform of Catholicism in England. Highly recommended as an accurate compendium in under 40 pages of a vast array of information essential to a full understanding of the subsequent Books of Common Prayer throughout the worldwide Anglican Communion.
