This is more retarded, overpriced apple crap. They market simplicity and a selling point, but basically what it means is "average run of the mill NAS" more apple fools will have a gay old time blowing their cash on this silly nonsense
The Apple haters are always fun. They are the same as the Nintendo haters who claim that the Wii hasn't won any market share because it isn't a "real" video game system. They are like little balls of seething, impotent fury that lash at any and everything that dosen't agree with their narrow little mindset.
I called my local Apple store last week to find out when they'd have it available and they said next week (this week). Called them this morning (Feb. 6) and now they are saying some time this month. I asked why the discrepancy between the story last week and the sales associate said the release has been delayed. Not sure if Amazon.com has received any just yet. I pre-ordered mine on Jan. 23 and received an email today stating the "item is difficult for us to get our hands on"...
I pre-ordered mine the afternoon of the MacWorld address from the on-line Apple Store. (Sorry, Amazon- I'm an Amazon fan, too...), and the earliest shipping estimate I have ever received from Apple was Feb. 29, (arrive by Mar. 6)
I always felt that was a worst case prediction, and that my 500 gb unit might actually arrive some time during Feb. Dunno.......We'll see......
(edit) Another thought- Steve proposes, but China disposes. Could be that the early units hitting the States couldn't pass QC in Cupertino.
It is a shame Wesley Collier has no idea what he is talking about, and obviously he is around 12 years old as he his critical thinking hasn't evolved beyond rating things as "gay" or "cool". Go play some more Halo3 and leave computing to the adults.
Apple lovers are often not much better. Anybody that associates their self esteem with a company is suspect, in my book. Apple doesn't care about you; best if you return the favor. It's all just cheaply made plastic and silicon. Not worth getting worked up about on either side. No matter which company you decide to "get behind" you're eventually going to be disappointed. Technology is a tool, not an end, and you'll be happier if you don't even get drawn into this kind of debate.
