This is not a how to book. It takes you on a trip with Frank Scoblete from the mid-1980s to last April when he played for 16 days straight in Las Vegas. In those years, Scoblete encountered and hooked up with some of the greatest dice players in the world and formed a team called Golden Touch Craps. The book tells the whole story of Scoblete's growth as a craps player...

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining mix, January 5, 2004
This review is from: Craps Underground: The Inside Story of How Dice Controllers are Winning Millions from the Casinos! (Hardcover)
The book tells the whole story of Scoblete's growth as a craps player from his meetings with the "father" of modern craps, The Captain, to his meeting with the Lee Brothers and Dominator.

There are 20 chapters in the book and each one is a mini-masterpeice. Scoblete doesn't just write about the great wins, however, he is absolutely honest about the sessions that went wrong, the shooters who didn't perform when the chips were down and the cameras were on, and the people who "thought" they had the advantage over the casinos but were in reality just fooling themselves.

The book is funny, some of the chapters had me laughing out loud. There were also some sad and poignant moments.

This is not just a book for craps players or gamblers. It's a book that everyone can enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars TERRIFIC BOOK, January 3, 2004
This review is from: Craps Underground: The Inside Story of How Dice Controllers are Winning Millions from the Casinos! (Hardcover)
This book was exciting, interesting, entertaining and gave me a behind the scenes look at some of the greatest casino advantage players in the world. Scoblete is a magnificent writer at the top of his game both in the casinos and on the pages of this book. This is not a how to book but a what happens when you are gifted and work hard to achieve a goal book. You don't even have to like casino gambling to read this book because it reads like a great novel. What really makes it better than most novels is that it is all true. When you are finished reading this book you have new respect for the skill of some players and the great writing talent of the author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book!, January 3, 2004
This review is from: Craps Underground: The Inside Story of How Dice Controllers are Winning Millions from the Casinos! (Hardcover)
I haven't read a book that was this great in years. I was rivetted by the writer's style and his stories are just eye-opping. This book reads like a great novel and I was just awed by the fact that these people are actually in the casinos and playing. A must read for anyone who wishes they could win millions from the casinos!

The human element can't be denied and Frank Scoblete focuses on the people in this book and what a book this is. The characters in the craps world are in an epic struggle to defy the odds and take their fates into their own hands. The book is exciting to read. I couldn't put it down!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Craps Underground, January 5, 2004
This review is from: Craps Underground: The Inside Story of How Dice Controllers are Winning Millions from the Casinos! (Hardcover)
The Craps underground is a wonderful book about Controlled Shooters that live the dream of consistently winning at the craps table. Could you imagine the power of knowing that when you walk into the casino, you will most likely walk out a winner. This book tells of such people.
It was wonderful learning about the legendary Captain, the father of dice control, The Arm, and The Lee Brothers.
It was interesting to learn the whole story behind the A&E TV show with the GTC group, and also the history of how this group was formed
I loved reading Mr. Scoblete's Las Vegas diary, where he tells of his adventures conquering the casinos with Dominator and Howard "Rock n Roller" Newman.
Once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Characters and Great Stories About Winners and Losers, January 5, 2004

This review is from: Craps Underground: The Inside Story of How Dice Controllers are Winning Millions from the Casinos! (Hardcover)
This book has it all. It's a page turner in the best tradition of great books that follow people on an adventure. Scoblete is a fine writer who really creates the world of the casinos and the people who challenge them with skill rather than luck. The characters in this book are fascinating individuals, both the winners and the losers.

Great reading. Congratulations Mr. Scoblete on a job well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superior Writing About Great Adventures, January 5, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Craps Underground: The Inside Story of How Dice Controllers are Winning Millions from the Casinos! (Hardcover)
If this were a novel, it would be a best seller instantly because it takes you into a world that most people never see - the world of high stakes, professional craps players who have attained the ability to alter the probabilities of the dice when they roll. The individuals are an amazing mix of types and ages, both men and women, many of them having won significant money over the years.

Scoblete is a writer who has power in his words. He takes us on a fun-filled journey with behind the scenes action. His characters are sharply defined and come alive as you read the book. This is an A+ effort by a great writer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you for a Great Read!, January 7, 2004
This review is from: Craps Underground: The Inside Story of How Dice Controllers are Winning Millions from the Casinos! (Hardcover)
I loved this book. I am a craps player and I am just now beginning my attempt to become an expert like the people Frank Scoblete writes about in this book. The book was a fun read and I found it hard to put it down to go to work! The characters jump off the page at you and I felt as if I got to know them. Frank Scoblete deserves his reputation as the greatest gambling writer who ever lived.

There were parts of the book that were very funny and parts were very sad. There is a whole chapter devoted to players who just don't have the discipline or ability to control the dice but think they do. There is a great chapter in a behind the scanes way about Scoblete and the shooter known as Dominator and several other players who appeared on television to take on the casinos. This chapter was tremendous. The part of the book I loved the best was the sixteen day diary at the end. Here Scoblete, Dominator and Howard "Rocker and Roller" Newman took on the casinos. People would wait for them to appear in the casinos and rush to their tables. I could see why their fans called them the Three Musketeers.

If you are looking for a great and enjoyable reading experience then The Craps Underground is definitely a book to buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Now I want to learn to play craps!, January 6, 2004
By
This review is from: Craps Underground: The Inside Story of How Dice Controllers are Winning Millions from the Casinos! (Hardcover)
This book is a very compelling read. The characters jumped out at me and I felt like I was there in person watching and playing along. Mr. Scoblete's writing style keeps you reading late into the night. Talk about not wanting to set the book down, wow, I have not enjoyed a book this much in years. I am going to buy some of his earlier books so I can learn to play the game.
Thank you Frank for getting me interested in what must be the best game in the casino!
