Surprisingly AMAZING, August 17, 2005
This review is from: Crash of 47 (Audio CD)
I had always been a fan of the music that Wind-Up has been putting out there and bands that they have signed. I was going through their list of bands and came across Atomship. At first, I was skeptical with the name and title, and could have easily written them off as a weird band that liked to talk about aliens.
I was in for a great surprise.
From the beginning, these guys blew me away. All skeptism was gone. Aside from the fact that they have very creative songs, they're also very talented. It's rare when you listen to a band's lead singer and can't associate his voice with anyone else. That uniqueness is a rare quality in this day in age.
Being a percussionist, I loved that much more when listening to them. Their drummer is phenomenal. I would put him up there with Danny Carrey of Tool in complexity and talent.
All the elements of this band just mesh very well with one another. I had this CD in my player for a month before I made myself take it out and listen to the other 20 CDs I had lined up to listen to at the time.
This is definitely a quality CD. If you're in for something unique and a mind blowing experience, pick em up and have a listen.

Awesome dynamic band, September 11, 2005
This review is from: Crash of 47 (Audio CD)
These guys are a God send to a rock genre stagnating under the weight of pop punk, Tool and Nirvana wannabes, and just otherwise useless bands. Taking influences like Tool, Rush, Yes, Dream Theatre and countless other metal and prog rock bands, have woven the best elements of the sound from these groups into something wholly original.
I found Atomship by accident after picking up the Punisher Soundtrack and hearing the acoustic piece called "Time For People." I decided to pick up their album after finding out when it was released. I bought it at Wal Mart of all places. I was not fully prepared for what I was about to hear.
Crash of 47 just blew me away. Every song on the CD was nearly flawless awesome unrelenting rock that demands full attention from first to last. "Pencil Fight" is the first single and probably my favorite song off the album. "Time For People", "Mothra", "Withered" and "Aliens" are all stand out songs as well. The whole album is incredible but those songs are my personal favorites.
Joey Culver has an incredible voice which compliments these songs perfectly. At times he is sinister and at others he's almost soulful, he definitely is a singer to be reckoned with. The drummer is a sick technical mastermind and their guitarist has talent to spare.

Best new band!!!, August 10, 2005
This review is from: Crash of 47 (Audio CD)
This is one of the best new bands to come along in a great while. I don't know who is in charge of their P. R., but they need someone else. Everyone I talk to, says they have never heard of these guys. Everytime I go into a music store that sells this cd, I pick up a copy to give to a friend. I saw them live at The Howling Wolf in New Orleans. This band is a must see and this cd is a must hear.
