This game was better than a lot of the other Crash Bandicoot games because there was no warp room. You could just keep going and changing levels when you got to a certain point and you would even notice you did change levels. It's awesome how you can beat up Cortex the entire game and it's awesome that he actually helps you complete levels. The pictures are a little different as you can tell by the front cover but this game is great for any Crash lovers.

This game wasn't as good as I was hoping it would be. The music was so repetitive that I just wanted to mute the TV. My husband & I both had our own game going & after my husband had went through about 20% of the game he entered a cave which took him back to about the 5% area where he had already been. After he worked so long & hard to pass several sections he was very disappointed to find that he had to go through all of that again. They should've made it so that when you beat a section you wouldn't be able to go through it again. Another problem that we encountered was the fact that you couldn't turn the camera around 100% of the time. There were times when you needed to turn the camera because there was a wall in the way & you couldn't see Crash so we would go to turn the camera (like you can do most of the game) & you wouldn't be able to. I have to wonder if there was any editing in this game. When the game worked like it should've it was fun but for us there was too many problems so I don't recommend this game.

1.0 out of 5 stars Take a pass, October 7, 2004
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Crash Bandicoot: Twinsanity for PlayStation 2 (Video Game)
I have been a fan of this series ever since I picked up the first one with my brand new Playstation in 1996. It always seemed to know its place in life as a bridge between old 2D platform games and the present. It used the new technology to update platforming with humor and attitude of the characters along with great sound effects and background music. In this title, whatever they've done with all these elements just doesn't add up to the same charming experience as previous outings.

Movement in one general direction collecting objects is gone and replaced with a free roaming enviornment. I didn't see very good clues telling you what you are supposed to doing or going next. The 3D environment makes it challenging to perform the classic crash moves of spinning or bouncing on top of enemies with accuracy although I suppose you might get used to that over time.

It is really easy to die in this game, and it took us 3 or 4 attempts to get past the first level. At first I sort of liked the music but after roaming around trying to figure out where to go the music got irritating and seemed to loop pretty often. The graphics are attractive, but are missing the previous version's style & polish. In the previous titles, Crash was very expressive and you could see a sort of dumb look on his face. That type of thing seems to be missing in Twinsanity. Even collecting the fruit is less fun, the satisfying slurppy sound is gone and the fruit doesn't always fly across the screen into your fruit count.

To sum up, with all the great platform games out there, there is just no reason to buy this one, especially at full price. Pick up Jax II or Rachet & Clank Going Commando (or both) off the Greatest Hits shelf.

I've been a big Crash Bandicoot fan(like everyone else) since his days on the original Playstation. Pretty much collected every single game that has ever came out in the series. My biggest favorites were the Gameboy Advance titles, because I could take them on the go. Which brings me up to his latest title, Twinsanity. Admittedly, Vivendi Universal has given us something new with this game...pairing up Crash and Cortex, in fully immersive environments...but us Crash fans expected better. Something along the lines of Jak and Daxter or Sly Cooper woulda' been nice. Yet, that wasn't meant to be. Even so, It's not entirely bad. I will give this game its' props. It is an addictive game(albeit different, especially for Crash). There's alot to like about it. It's most certainly not the best Crash game ever made but it's not the worst either. As for this being the final nail in Crash's coffin, I seriously doubt it. Every videogame franchise has their moments of greatness, then their moments opposite that. I've seen few franchises who hadn't. What it boils down to in the end is whether you like it or not. Even though I expected better, it still is a great game that I like and recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly Good, October 12, 2004

Okay - I rented this game because I didn't want to put out $50 right now. I have all of the other Crash games and was very disappointed with Crash Nitro Kart. I play CTR all the time. I was happy to see that Crash Twinsanity is really interesting. Traveller's Tales really researched the whole series because you see characters in this game from the whole series and different enemies from the games the graphics are outstanding too. But I have to agree about the save points they are scarce and I played all of the other Crash platform games and finished them all by myself and this game I just can't get the hang of it. My son is playing it now and he is 11 and I watch him and he is awesome at it. He is used to playing Jak and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank so he is used to the jumping and shooting and roaming around and it is kind of like a puzzle where you really have to pay attention where the other game you just walked and found everything in front of you. And it is true about a couple of the boards being very dark like the rolling board where crash and Cortex roll around together, I have bad eyesight and I couldn't even see where to go even when i brightened the color on my TV. There are other boards though that are awesome looking and fun but it's definitely not a kiddie game. But overall I think it's really fun and the graphics are great and it is original.

5.0 out of 5 stars A true example of game evolution, July 29, 2005
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Crash Bandicoot: Twinsanity for PlayStation 2 (Video Game)
After the horror that was Wrath of Cortex, I had fairly low expectations for this game. After playing through a good bit of it, I must say I was completely and utterly wrong. Finally, Traveller's Tales has injected life into a dying series. I honestly don't know why so many people gave this game a bad review.
Like most of the other Crash games, the difficulty can be rather high, but nothing a true gamer would balk at. The humor in the game had me rolling on many occasions, and unlike the minigames and alternate play style segments in similar platformer games, I found the minigame segments in Twinsanity to be both well done and fun. Playing as Cortex could be a bit dry at times, but Nina is fun to play as, and Crash is as silly as ever. The
This game takes the typical platforming formula of the Crash Bandicoot games and mixes it with the story-oriented style of Incredible Crisis, creating a game that you just can't put down.
In a time where gamers think Grand Theft Auto is an entertaining game series, Crash Bandicoot Twinsanity is a welcome breath of fresh air, good for children and adults alike...if they've got the skill to play a real game.
After the dissappointment that was Wrath of Cortex, it's good to see Crash Bandicoot in a game that is honestly good.
I can't wait to see what they come up with next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best in the series, January 15, 2007
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Crash Bandicoot: Twinsanity for PlayStation 2 (Video Game)
I've been playing Crash games since the original for PlayStation1. After Team Racing, the series seemed to die a quick death, with games like 'Crash Bash' a lame Mario Party clone, Crash Wrath of Cortex had great visuals, but just felt medicore and not much fun. Since then, I haven't bothered to play any recent additions to the series, such as Crash Nitro Kart, or Crash Tag Team Racing.

Back in 2004, I heard that Jon K. (creator of Ren & Stimpy) was going to help out with Crash Twinsanity. This piqued my interest, since humor is what the series really needs. The main character isn't some 'badboy' superhero. He's a silent, brainless oaf. The villians he fights are clumsy, so comedy seemed the best direction to take the series in. Also, using comedy is a good way to try and make the series not such a blatant Sonic the Hedgehog ripoff. (Crystals = Chaos Emeralds, Cortex = Robotnik, Crash's 'attitude' = Sonic inspired, Crunch = Shadow) anyway..

I expected the game to follow the usual 'warp-room' formula the other titles in the series did. Wrong. The game has no levels. The entire game is one HUGE level, with typical jungle settings, underground caves, snowboarding, beaches, creepy castles, and lava areas. And I've yet to finish the game.

This is what i've been dying to see in a game for quite some time. No levels, just one huge world. Major props to Vivendi for ditiching the warp-rooms, and making it more free-roaming.

This is also the first game i've played since a 2D era (Genesis, Nintendo) where i actually NEED lives. So many games recently let you save wherever you want, so lives are pretty useless, since you can just load a game and pickup where you left off. This game only lets you save when you find an 'autosave crate' which you can only find after beating a few levels and bosses. So you will NEED lives in this game.

Which leads me to another aspect of the game I love. The challenge. Crash games are usually pretty easy. This game can get pretty hard at times. Sometimes frustratingly hard. Which is good. Games need a challenge.

Also, the new character, Nina, (Cortex's niece) is the best character ever. When you first play as her, there's hard-rock music blaring, while you plow down everything in your path with her grappling-hook arm. Yet, while all this is happening, she's skipping merrily. I find that so hilarious for some reason.

The only faults i find with this game is when you play as Cortex, he CANNOT JUMP, and he's slow as a snail. This is incredibly frustrating when you're playing those 'run from something that's chasing you, while you can't see what's in front of you' parts of the game.

Bottom line: Vivideni MAKE TWINSANITY 2. The series hasn't been very good since Naughty Dog left, but with this game, you've surpassed all the previous titles in the series. (Well, except for the original Crash Team Racing..)

The only thing I ask for a possible sequel, is to pump-up the graphics, make Crash run a little faster and jump higher. Doubly so if Cortex is playable.

Twinsanity = fun but with flaws. Design, plot, movies, music are all interesting and different. With how frustrating some parts are, you will be lucky to make it through the game to enjoy those elements. If only they had spent a little more time on the game to fix the bugs and problems, the game could have been one of the more entertaining platform games around.
Problems:
* Camera angles, not only the default camera angles in some parts, but also the camera angles when you adjust the camera, and the way the camera sometimes shows you a wall or the floor and you cannot adjust it to any other direction. So much fun to die for no reason.
* not enough checkpoints or saves, making you repeat the same section OVER and OVER and OVER when the above camera angle issues take place
* difficult to jump across sometimes especially when you cannot adjust the camera angle, making you die and have to play the same part OVER and OVER and OVER again - that is not challenging nor is it fun
* running in circles for a while to fight or jump through the level and either my joystick or the game would stick in parts causing me to die (of course)
* weird shadows or pixels that show up that aren't supposed to be there
I am still playing the game until I finish it but when I run into these problems, I ponder whether it is worth it...I guess for $19.99 or less it is worth the purchase but expect to be frustrated in parts.

This game has great graphics, characters, and fun. In the game you play as a new person nina cortex and if all those peaple who said it was bad didn't like nina they're odd. This game to me was more fun than the first crash on the playstation2. If you liked the first one I know you'll love this one. The only bad part is you can't go back to the levels you like. Besides that it is realy fun.
