This review is from: Crash Course for the ACT (Princeton Review Series) (Paperback)
...but don't count on this for all your preparation. This little book will give you a basic run-through on ACT preparation and will point up areas in which you might need work, but I would consider it more appropriate for a 1st review book well ahead of exam time or for a last ditch effort for anyone who has procrastinated a bit too long. I gave it 4 stars instead of 3 because it promises no more than what it delivers, a "crash course".

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Single Book for ACT Prep, February 8, 2008
This review is from: Crash Course for the ACT (Princeton Review Series) (Paperback)
Like many parents, we bought and borrowed several lengthy ACT prep books. Already with a high score, our son wanted to raise his score even more and qualify for a university presidential scholarship. After his first ACT test, my son read all the books and said that the small "Crash Course for the ACT" taught him all the test strategy he needed to know and was the best single book he used. He brought his score from 31 to a 34 the second time he took the test-- and yes, he did get the great scholarship.

I've felt the book taught my son skills for college, not just for the ACT. My son mentioned during his first semester of college that he was using the strategies he had learned from "Crash Course for the ACT" when he took his college tests.

This is a small book that teaches all the strategy a student needs to know without overwhelming them. Plus it's small enough that a student can read it several times. I'd also recommend putting in some extra study in the areas where the student has their lowest scores from the first test, and I recommend a student doing a few practice tests, which are available on the College Board site as well as elsewhere on the web.
