I've always been a fan of the Crash series, or at least a fan of the early titles in the series, before it starting tanking. This, in my opinion, is the best Crash game in years. Is it fun? Sure it is. But is it worth owning? Probably not. Unless you're a diehard platforming fan you may want to just rent this. It is definitely worth your time to go through once.
This probably won't be for everybody either. It's geared towards kids, but I think adults will enjoy as well(I'm well into my adult years). The main problem I had with this game is that you can't move the camera at all, which makes it rather irritating when you're trying to look for items that may be hidden above you or just out of sight. I'm not sure why the developers did this!? There are other minor things that keep this from being a standout platformer. Such as there being hardly anything new or original we haven't seen in a platformer before. Sure the whole capture the monster/creature and storing it in your pocket and controlling/using when you want is kind of cool, but gets repetive after a while. Also, there's not a real lot of depth to be found here as you would find in the awesome Ratchet and Clank series or even the Jak & Daxter series. The Crash series is capable of so much more and I hope that in the future that is the case. The first 2 Crash games are classics. The graphics, while definitely not the best on the 360, could have been much worse. No, they are not as good as Ratchet and Clank: Future, but at least you can still call them this generation graphics. On a positive note the game is a lot of fun even though there's not much new here. What is really great is the comedy. This game will make you split your side in laughter. One part in the game made me roll where Crash kicks one of the monsters in the 'nads' or maybe it's just the stomach(it happened fairly quickly). What made it funny was Crash snickering about it after he did it. Maybe I just have a warped since of humor! Another thing I think that adds to the playability of this game is co-op mode. You and a buddy can team up to go through the game together. One will play Crash, and the other will play Crashes' sister, CoCo(I think that's how you spell her name). Co-op almost always makes a game more fun and it's not an exception here. Overall, I had a good time with the game and, though I wouldn't ever buy it it was worth renting and recommend it to anyone who has even a slight interest in platform games to give a try. It's not destined to be a classic or a game of the year candidate, but it's not bad by any stretch of the imagination. You could do much worse on picking a game this holiday season. There are probably 2 reasons why this game won't get the attention it deserves, 1.the bad reputation the Crash franchise has established in the last 10 years due to shoddy(lack of funds? lack of ideas? lack of talent?) developers creating crappy Crash follow-ups. 2.there are a ton of great games coming out over the next 3 months, more so than ever and this game is likely to get overlooked in favor of games like Dead Space, GOW 2, Resistance 2 etc. True, these games aren't in the same genre, but I have a feeling that a lot of gamers out there, like me, play lots of different genres and may not waste there time with this due to the first reason I stated. If you're like me, then you're probably not going to be overflowing with cash to buy every game that interests you this holiday season, especially with the economy headed/heading south. Anyway, that's why you should give this one a rent. I'll bet you'll have fun time playing it. Just about everyone can afford a $3 rental. I give it 3 1/2 stars or a 7 out of 10.

Well Meaning but Just Not Fun,

This review is from: Crash Mind Over Mutant (Video Game)
Crash - Mind Over Mutant is the latest in the Crash Bandicoot series, a platformer which can be played by one or two players. I really had high hopes for this game, as I generally love platformers. Unfortunately, it just does not hold up.
It's sort of hard to put your finger exactly on why the game isn't fun to play. The graphics are nice enough, a good balance between realistic movement and cartooney shininess. The characters are cute, optimistic, and have the usual collection of bouncing, climbing, spinning and other movements. There are monsters you encounter that you can take control of. Each monster has special abilities that you can use to solve puzzles. For example you run into an ice monster and can use him to freeze water. There was a fair amount of potential here, but the gameplay really feels tedious and boring. The dialogue is painful. I realize this is for kids - we play a LOT of games meant for kids and they are generally quite fun! I had several people try this one and usually you have to pry the controller away from people that are playing a platformer. With this one, they would slog through an area or two and then want to stop playing. Digging aimlessly through underground areas looking for a shiny object or two? Slashing away at giant dandelions? These are only the first few fun tasks you take on in your duties. There are so many other great platformers out there that are incredibly fun to play and replay - the Ratchet & Clank series, the Jak & Daxter series. We would spend weeks and weeks playing those games and enjoying every moment of it. That we had to force ourselves to play through this one was really a key indicator that it just wasn't right. We love platforming - we are this game's target audience. It just wasn't well done. If you really want to give it a try, rent it from your local game rental store or website. That way you can test it out first. If it happens to match your particular gaming style, then by all means by it - but I'm afraid most platforming fans will find it lacking.

i liked the game. it just is too long to get to just 50% game completion that 100% is just seemingly impossible. but other than that, the game is just great. oh and the cutscenes are the most epic that ive ever seen.
