The rest of the book is a campaign against liberals, democrats, and the left in general.

The byline on the cover reads - "How to Survive a Global Currency Collapse".
The sum total of Smith's advice on how to survive a collapse (unless you count buying more firearms and ammo which I already have) can be found on a couple of lines on pages 184, 185.
1)Diversify your savings so that a portion (up to 25%) is beyond the grasp of greedy politicians
2)Make sure some of your savings are in antiques, collectibles, stored food or gold.

Duh....

Is that advice detailed enough that you can follow it? It isn't for me.
The book is an exercise in trashing the Obama adminstration and the left (which I'm all for) - but when he applauds Bush the Younger for the mistaken Iraq invasion - the huge life and money waster that helped push us down this road of debt (and got us the current administration) - I stopped giving Smith the benefit of the doubt as far as his opinion and writing skills.

For a properly researched and footnoted understanding of what really got us here and some detailed investment advice that you can actually use - read Barbarians of Wealth. The early American history recantations can be a bit boring but the story overall is gripping. The real history behind the Fed, the scumbags @ Goldman and other dirtbags.
Phenomenal read and worth every penny.

Save your money for Barbarians and skip Crashing the Dollar.

After hearing Craig Smith on Brannon Howse's radio show, I knew I had to have this book. Craig is right on target and I would urge anyone who has a concern about their personal finances in this day and age to get this book and follow his recommendations. As Craig states in his interview, anybody who has read the Bible, with emphasis on the prophecies relating to this time, should not be surprised with what's happening in the world of finances. Get this book quickly. The days of of the American fiat currency system are numbered.

This book points out the facts about monetary creation and its longer term effects on our pocketbook. The more they print the less its worth is a fact. This is a form of taxation, when you can't tax they print money and rob the wealth from the holders of dollars.

Protect your family. I highly recommend this book to everyone.

It's very long but it makes a good case about why paper money is going the way of the dinosaurs and why you should prepare for this crisis, but it's only in the last couple of pages it says how to survive. It really sounds like a commercial for gold.

This is one of a flood of books on this growing-in-popularity subject. I appreciate well researched and balanced discussion about the causes of, and proposed solutions for, the current world economic crisis. Although the authors do present their take on the best cure, they also seem intent on bashing certain administrations for the situation we are in today. Unfortunately, this myopic and emotional presentation of their position gives little credence to their proposed solutions and advice.

I firmly believe that true consensus can be achieved and constructive actions taken when all parties set aside their political differences and work towards achieving a workable solution. This book does little to foster that approach.

I have gotten much more objective and useful information from "Web of Debt" [Brown] and "America's Financial Apocalypse: How to Profit from the Next Great Depression" [Stathis].

If I had it to do again, I would not purchase this book.

I found the book was an easy read. To the point and very informative. More people should be reading such books to get a grip on the financial trouble our government is in and who is behind it. To those people looking for some answers to our economic problems, this is a must read.
