Built around a 12" Blackheart by Eminence Speaker in a 15 ply (18mm), classically joined, void free plywood cabinet, the BH112 makes a perfect pairing for the Blackheart Little Giant 5 head (BH5H) or as an extension cab to the Little Giant 5 combo (BH5-112), or use it to maximize the tone of any amp in your arsenal. From its incredibly well crafted construction to its clean tolex work, the Blackheart BH112 is a great value in a portable, powerful and boutique quality extension cabinet. The closed back tuned design and (red framed) Blackheart model 1216B Speaker by Eminence is the fruit of extensive research involving Crate and Eminence. The result is a very tight and responsive cabinet. In fact, all of the BH112's cabinet joinery is based on classic, proven design for tone and roadworthiness.

Although I love this cabinet for its price tag and its excellent construction, the speaker is a bit harsh sounding. I understand that part of this has to do with the cab being closed, but I wish it sounded a bit sweeter, and I know it could with the right speaker. That said, for the price, you can't complain, since you can afford a speaker swap with all the money you save on the cab. One more thing, this cabinet is pretty much the exact same size as the Epiphone Valve Junior Extension Cabinet, 1x12, the Epiphone might be a couple millimeters larger. That's great because both are inexpensive (but well made) 16-ohm cabs loaded with Eminence speakers, but the Epiphone is an open cabinet. They can form a mini stack or sit side by side and play nice with each other. As for how they sound, I think the Epiphone sounds better with the stock speaker, but find that the construction of the Blackheart is superior, so it would make a great choice for speaker upgrades.

Some stores sell the BH-5 head with the BH-112 bottom as a set. I see that AMAZON sells them as separates.
Blackheart did a great job of pairing these two units together. As you probably already know the BH-5 head has a neat feature of a 3 watt or 5 watt tube output. To be honest, for whatever reason the 3 watt setting sound a little muddy But the 5 watt output really drives the EMINENCE BH-112 speaker cab nicely. Very full sounding a breaks-up almost on command depending on your guitar strike accent. In other words, that great speaker break-up sound is predictable, and controllable depending how you play.
If you read my other reviews you'll see that I love EMINCE SPEAKERS and this little BH-112 cab really delivers quality tone BUT don't count on it to fill a room with sound. I use mine as a high end practice amp, or using it in smaller venues. Don't worry though because I find the BH-5 amp head easily drives my 150 watt Celestion 212 bottom. Again, with the 212 bottom I still found the 3 watt to be a little muddy But the 5 watt had great clarity and punch. Hope this helps, and as always, THANKS for reading my reviews. Be well. Connected to a Blackheart Handsome Devil head, it produces a chimey, well-defined tone that's great with either humbuckers or single coils. Workmanship is very good...nice value for the money.

no brainer
This truly is a no brainer. Solid cab. I have 2 and I put a celestion v30 in 1. The stock speaker sounds better! This is a ridicusly low price to pay for a pretty decent cab.
