5.0 out of 5 stars THE ABSOLUTELY MOST COMPLETE CRAB COOKBOOK
I've just completed reading Christine Quinn's "A Craving For Crab". I say reading because much of this superb cookbook reads as if it were a novel...a well illustrated novel. Ms. Quinn introduces us to her life, family, friends, crab rustlers and all things CRAB. A thorough discussion of North American crab species is fascinating. Seventy or more excellent crab based...

1.0 out of 5 stars No photos of any recipes makes this a disappointing book
Although the book seems to have good crab recipes, it is totally lacking in color or black and white photos of any of these recipes. A few black and white line drawings is all you get. I would think that in a 174 page cookbook for this price.. the author could afford at least a few color photos. Needless to say.. the book was a complete disappointment.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE ABSOLUTELY MOST COMPLETE CRAB COOKBOOK, July 10, 2005
This review is from: A Craving for Crab Cookbook (Paperback)
I've just completed reading Christine Quinn's "A Craving For Crab". I say reading because much of this superb cookbook reads as if it were a novel...a well illustrated novel. Ms. Quinn introduces us to her life, family, friends, crab rustlers and all things CRAB. A thorough discussion of North American crab species is fascinating. Seventy or more excellent crab based recipies are presented including regional favorites and step by step instructions on successfully hosting a crab feed. Additional delicious recipies include Grandmas coleslaw, old fashioned potato salad and key lime pie. Buy this truly excellent book today or face a lifetime of second-rate preparation of this delicacy from the sea. Numerous comprehensive websites are presented offering overnight delivery of crab, crab festivals and even crab vacations...ever thought of that for your family or family reunion? I now have a nearly encyclopedic knowledge of all things CRAB. Thanks to Ms. Quinn and with attribution to Marty Robbins I now feel confident and prepared to attend my next reunion wearing a 'White Sportcoat and a Pink Crustacean'.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BOOK, LIKE THE FOOD, IS AS GOOD AS IT LOOKS, June 26, 2005

Though they say don't judge a book by its cover, this book is the exception. The cover is a wonderrful work of art and so is the book itself. While some may buy the book simply for its beauty, as with crab itself, what's inside is what matters. This book is very easy and enjoyable to read, and it provides great and easy to prepare recipes. For anyone who already enjoys crab, it is a must have. And for the those haven't had the chance to develop a "craving for crab," it should be required reading. I'm buying a number of copies to give as gifts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not only Comprehensive, but a delightful surprise, June 1, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: A Craving for Crab Cookbook (Paperback)
This cookbook is a rarity. Not only does it combine all the information you'll ever need about crabs from King to Blue, but the recipes are sensational. They are span the unique to the tried and true with bold text and easy to prepare dishes. The read alone makes you salivate. The recipe book also comes with sides and condiment recipes to compliment every dish.

If you love crabs and you enjoy preparing delights in your kitchen, then this is the cookbook for you.

I'm buying them up for gifts as I know some of my family members would steal my own copy away if they could. This book for crabs will end up a classic, just like Fanny Farmer is the staple for every new bride.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Craving For Crab, November 26, 2005
This review is from: A Craving for Crab Cookbook (Paperback)
Congratulations to Christine Quinn. Her cookbook, A Craving For Crab, is the most complete book devoted to this wonderful seafood. It is well done - informative and filled with interesting and delicious recipes - also well illustrated. I gave a copy to my sister for her birthday, and she and her friends also give it 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Crab Cookbook available, December 27, 2005

I grew up on San Francisco and love crab! I own every crab cookbook written. This is my favorite. I purchased it at Dean & Deluca in Napa Valley and have since purchased 7 more copies as gifts for my crab loving family & friends. This book is a joy to read and a delightful culinary resource, and every recipe I've made so far has lived up to my expectations, DELICIOUS! The recipes are clear and easy to follow and the dishes come out perfectly every time. The Crab stuffed Poblanos with Roasted Red Pepper Sauce is my favorite so far, as gorgeous, as it is delicious, with the Garlic Roasted Crab a Close 2nd. Highly recommended!
