4.0 out of 5 stars Good As a Supplimental Roof Tie-Down, Good For Securing Things In a Pickup Bed
The Cordzilla stretch rope is great for keeping things in the back of your pickup and could easily be used in place of a regular bungee cord or rope to keep things secure in the back of the truck. While there are vinyl coated hooks on either end of the cord, I wouldn't go so far as to say they "protect paint". The vinyl coating isn't that thick and the part of the hook...

So to begin I have to say I am really disappointed...I got the Cordzilla in and opened the box like a kid at Christmas. The Cordzilla on the surface looks tough ...inviting you to pull and strech and tie things down....so I did.

First thing I found was it was weak...it tested initial stretch at 3#'s and full stretch at 25#'s. Not good for a product rated for heavy loads...they would be prone to move to much. So I took a look at the poly rope around the bungee itself and was reminded why I don't ever use poly rope. It is the type of rope you see boaters use a lot as it is not prone to rot like cotton does. Problem is it is very abrasive, not a good choice for a tie down product were vibration, wind from the car/trucks movement, and load shifting can cause problems.

Second issue is made more important by the poly rope wrap...it only has one foam protector so as you stretch over something you have to pick which side to protect.

Third issue a closer inspection of the bungee...(made by cutting open the rope around it revealed that the Codzilla was just a regular bungee in a spruced up wrapper. See uploaded photo for a better look inside)

Bottom line: At nearly $35 this is not even worth a look....the clips are great and then it goes down hill from there

-1 star for only one foam protector
-1 star for poor pull stength
-1 star for abrasive poly wrap rope
-1 star for price

=1 star

The Cordzilla stretch rope is great for keeping things in the back of your pickup and could easily be used in place of a regular bungee cord or rope to keep things secure in the back of the truck. While there are vinyl coated hooks on either end of the cord, I wouldn't go so far as to say they "protect paint". The vinyl coating isn't that thick and the part of the hook that closes is not coated with anything to keep it from scratching paint. If you are going to hook it onto something, hook it onto something that is either not visible or can be scratched.

It is great for helping to secure things on the top of a car but not securing them but itself. For example, when I put a small sailboat or windsurfer on top of my car, I use the wide flat things that ratchet down to keep it secure on top of the car. This item could be used for extra security to help ensure nothing came off the car.

You could also use this to keep things like ski bags together on the roof of your car. If you have skis in ski bags that won't fit in the car and use bungees or something similar to strap them to the roof, the Cordzilla would be handy to have to wrap around all the ski bags to keep them together on the roof.

This cord also makes an excellent workout accessory in the office or on the road away from the gym. It is easy to grip, provides a lot of resistance and provides the biceps a good workout just stretching the cord while sitting in your cubicle.

Overall, it is a significant improvement over a regular bungee cord. It is stronger than many bungee cords, the hooks make it easier to attach it to more things, it is great to use in the back of a pickup truck and you can use it as an exercise accessory. Just be careful what you attach the hooks to because I can't imagine that the paint on my vehicle would still be in tact if the hooks on this cord were attached in such a way such that they were in contact with the paint and under any kind of stress.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful, extra heavy-duty tie-down bungee cord., November 24, 2008
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The Cordzilla Stretch Rope is bungee cord reinforced with an outer rope covering. It stretches from 3' to 5' and is easily secured with 2 vinyl coated steel hooks with AL safety clips. I've already used it as an extra anchor for tying down stuff on my crossover SUV's roof rack and inside my truck-bed. There's even a protective foam sleeve to protect edges of items. It works much easier than rope and feels more secure than regular, thin bungees. Slight dislike: the gaudy green color (black or red would be better).

5.0 out of 5 stars The Godzilla of Ropes, December 22, 2011
By
I have a 1989 Mitsubishi Montero, one of the short two door models that resembles a Jeep. It's got big tires and I take it off road. Which I did last week in the wild, wooly trails of the Southern Californian desert. The back of the truck was loaded with two happy children, looking forward to a camping adventure that included a ghost town. My best friend Sara was in the passenger seat. These cars have almost zero room behind the back seat. If you're going someplace where you need a lot of gear, it's better if you put the seat down, which mean only two can go.

Well, we had four souls and lots of gear and that's where these bungie like, super killer, tie down ropes come in handy. Gotta give a big thumbs up to Cordzilla, because these guys really are the Godzilla of ropes, if the Army guys would have had these in that movie, they could've tied the monster down, displayed him in a zoo next to King Kong, who they also would have tied down with some of these Cordzilla ropes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for tough loads, November 29, 2008
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
.Crawford-Lehigh CZB3 3-Feet Cordzilla Stretch Rope, Green, 2-Pack

This heavy-duty stretch rope comes with a secure neoprene grip and on each end, a vinyl-coated steel hook with an Anodized aluminum safety clip to secure the hook to an anchor. Extra-wide hook openings make easy work of tying down loads. Note: these large hooks might be difficult to secure to some anchors-they worked well on a Ford F150 bed but not so well on a Toyota Tacoma with smaller eyelets.

Pros: The one-inch diameter green bungee rope has a safe working load of 400 lbs., making it great for tough tie-downs.

Cons: A bit pricey if a lighter-weight bungee will do the job, also, the three-foot rope has only an 18-inch stretch

4.0 out of 5 stars A Bit Pricey, February 19, 2009
This review is from: Crawford-Lehigh CZB5 5-Feet Cordzilla Stretch Rope, Orange (Tools & Home Improvement)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This cord is sturdy enough and has good gripping clamps.

It is good looking and does serve its purpose, though you can do almost as good with regular rope.

Because cost is the drawback for me I had to deduct one star. It would be a much better buy if the price was lowered considerably.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, stretchy, clippy, January 17, 2009

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Bar some big wilderness adventure story, there's not an awful lot that can be said about a bungee cord. The best thing about this one so far seems to be the heavy woven casing - it's loose when the cord is not under tension but becomes flat and slightly slippery when the cord is pulled taut, so it doesn't fray as easily as the fabric casing of normal bungee cords when stretched over corners.

The other nice thing is that it has clips at the end instead of just hooks, which provides a little more security. The only thing I find annoying about this is that the opening of the clip is a little on the small side, which limits the size of things you can clip them onto.

I've been using this to secure my groceries in a bicycle basket for the last several months. It hasn't really undergone any huge tests of strength in that situation, since it's supposed to be able to stretch to 5 feet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cordzilla lives up to its reputation! It's a monster rope that HOLDS!, January 15, 2009
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I have a Honda Element, a SUV of sorts that's ideal for hauling books, framed pieces of art, furniture, etc. In the past, I've been concerned about properly securing large objects in the back, which tend to shift and slide on the plastic-rubber flooring. The car has tie-holds and will accept clasps from bungee cords, but most of the cords are simply not heavy-duty enough to suit me.

This one suits me.

I've attached the Cordzilla to the rear portion of my SUV and it's kept everything from shifting: heavy boxes, large pieces of furniture, and other items. It is so strong that it'll outlast my truck, and I suspect it'd handle even heavier loads with no problems.

If a normal bungee cord won't suffice, the Cordzilla surely will. It's the "monster" cable that, as far as I'm concerned, has you can count on.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bungee Cord Upgrade!, December 31, 2008
By
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The Cordzilla Stretch Rope is a great heavy-duty tie-down bungee cord. The bungee material is reinforced with a soft rope covering. It stretches from 3' in length to about 4.5' to 5'. On each end are vinyl coated hooks and a safely clip for securing to an anchor. The cords can be used as traditional bungee cords to tie things to a roof rack. They say the clips are safe for paint, but I would not put the clips against your paint under too much stress; I would think it could definitely still scratch paint. The main advantages are that the Cordzilla is rated to 400 lbs. and the hooks are wider and "closed." Another use we've found is to secure things in the back of our SUV, which a traditional bungee cord can't do. The only downside over traditional bungee cords is the price. I would recommend one set of the 3' Cordzillas for small SUV / crossover owners. If you have a larger SUV or a pickup truck, you may want to upgrade to the longer length Cordzilla.
