This review is on the song, not the other 2 songs., December 23, 2003

This is one of the coolest songs I've ever heard. There is a real swampy kind of sound to it, and PJ Harvey's voice is really hypnotic. Unlike a lot of bands now who mesh chords together to make a 'song,' this has a unique melody with an Eastern-tinge to it. Good song, I plan to check out Desert Sessions soon.

Polly Harvey fans be a little cautious., February 18, 2004

I've been looking for this stuff for an age! I'm a big fan of P J Harvey, and i had a vague idea QOTSA we ok. Just not been able to find it in my neck of the woods.
I have however just got the single - Crawl Home. It features three audio tracks:
Crawl Home (3.00) - the version, i presume, from the album;
It (4.14) a cover of the Prince song;
and The Whores HUssle and the Hustlers Whore (3.14) - a cover of the P J Harvey track from 'Stories...';
and the video to Crawl Home.
Only the track Crawl Home features PJ (On vocals and Bass). Which seeing as it's her photo on the front and the whole package is sold pretty much as her i was a bit miffed at.
The track on which she appears is fantastic - on it's own it would be a four star track. But the rest just isn't worth it. Despite Twiggys presence on all tracks.
The other three tracks i've heard from Desert Sessions 9/10 on which she sings are also really really good. A Girl Like Me, Powdered Wig Machine and There Will Never be a Better Time are also really cooking tracks - some with that slightly spanish sound, i wish she'd been locked up in a shack with Calexico rather than Josh Homme though. For an experimental project, he seems mightily conservative.
I was wondering whether any of the tracks on Desert Sessions 9/10 that DON'T feature Polly singing, feature her within the band (guitar, sax, whatever...)? I am right in thinking it's just the Four tracks with her singing too, yes?
