Book Description

Unwanted, molested, raped, beaten, addicted to heroin and prostituted, Marni wound up in prison where she decided to turn her life around. Emerging to build a multi-million dollar corporation, she worked hard and lived well for almost twenty years, until she received a deadly diagnosis that again changed everything. Instead of giving up, Marni viewed her diagnosis as a gift, when near death, she received a glimpse into the true purpose of our existence which she has come to call the "Iceberg Principles." By finding her power and her purpose she now helps others discover their own.

From the Author

I wrote this book for two reasons.

I held nothing back. I was completely open, honest and raw because I know that somebody is going through at least one, if not more of the things I described, and I want them to know that there is a way through. I know from my own painful experience what when you are in it there is no hope; only darkness and pain.

I wanted to be a shining beacon of hope and inspiration to those that are suffering and tell them, "I have been down here before and I know the way out!"
Which brings me to the second reason I wrote the book: The Light!
There is so much more to life that just survival. We are Giants! We all have unique gifts and talents that we came to earth to express. Until we do we will feel out of sync with ourselves and the world around us.

Again, my message is hope. When you decode your spiritual DNA - that specific mix of gifts and talents that is uniquely your own - and you begin to share it with the world, life stops being about pain and suffering and becomes about joy and enthusiasm. Life stops being about unmet needs and disappointments and becomes about what you have to share and contribute to the world!

That's the real reason I wrote this book: It was just too good to keep inside!

5.0 out of 5 stars Page-turner! June 25, 2012

I must say, I had no idea what to expect from Crawling Into the Light. I thought I would just read a chapter or two - but once I started, I could not stop till I was done! Marni Spencer-Devlin's tale is gripping, and cannot have been easy to decide to share. It is not a book for the feint of heart, but an amazing true story, exploring the author's life. Nothing has been held back, and the title does not disappoint. The light is there, and Spencer-Devlin certainly triumphed in sharing her journey!

Excellent story that is very easy to read, follow and in some places, relate to. This book made my laugh, cry, cheer and sometimes want to reach into the book and rescue the precious child from what she endured. Marni has a way of telling her story that kept me wanting to read more and more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not a fairy tale June 15, 2012
By Joanna
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Amazing and heart breaking story about a woman, who survived - against all odds. When you read this book you understand why it's so important to love your children and show them your love, to protect them and encourage them instad of focusing on their weakness. It's almost impossible to believe this story is true - and it's so good to see, that if you want, you can - even if you are crawling on the bottom of hell. Marni left her dark world that was created in her unhappy childhood. It took some time, but does it matter at all? She found her light, only that counts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compelling, Inspirational November 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
to be honest it took a while for me to start to read this book - I wasn't sure I'd like it when I read the description using words like RAW and courage.. but as it turns out this is an uplifting compelling book full of hope and inspiration. It does make me sad for the situation of humanity and then a moment later I'm cheering and in marvel at the human spirit. I'm in Awe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! November 26, 2012
Format:Paperback
I really enjoyed the beginning where Marni writes about her parents lives as they grew up. It helped to understand why they were so angry later in the book. Marni seems to let it all out in her book, Crawling Into the Light. Her molestation, rape, feeling unwanted, addiction to heroin, prostitution, homelessness, and her prison time. It was a fascinating story to read and sometimes difficult to read. Many times, I would shake my head, wondering...'what are you doing??' Marni's writing keeps you engaged. She never seems to take a victim point of view, but rather an honest look at how she was not wanted by her family and how that played out in her life and her perception of her self-worth. Many can benefit from reading this! In the latter part of the book, where Marni is no longer a 'junkie' and has plenty of money and a nice home, it is difficult to then visualize the pained and addicted girl who was selling her body for money to shoot up or to pay the motel rent. Amazing. A must read!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A page turner! October 5, 2012
By Leslie
Format:Paperback
Once I started this book, I couldn't put it down! I am so impressed by the courage Marni displayed by putting her story out there. In this well written and gripping book, you will learn of a woman who has survived and thrived despite the circumstances she was born into. Her story of pain, passion, courage and survival is one that will both break your heart and bring a sense of admiration for the strength, love and light Marni embodies to overcome against all odds.

More About the Author

In her book, Crawling Into The Light, bestselling author and mentor, Marni Spencer-Devlin details the gripping, rollercoaster ride of her victory over unspeakable adversity - molestation, two rapes, heroin addiction, even homelessness and finally time in state prison - all before her subsequent, miraculous rise to a twenty-year career as the founder and president of a multimillion dollar marketing company, which was stopped in its tracks by a deadly diagnosis. Marni had been given only a year to live when she wrote Crawling Into The Light.

This, however, is where she gained the amazing insights that spawned her latest book, The Iceberg Principles, which present an innovative concept that illustrates who we are as human beings, why we struggle as we do, and what to do about it. The information is so paradigm-shifting that Marni found herself filled with renewed energy and vitality, and, instead of dying, discovered that her life had really just begun. Today Marni is passionately sharing the concept of The Iceberg Principles with audiences the world over.
