We exchanged it and the second one works, but the paint barely trickles out.

The picture on the box shows a boy with the paint streaming out of the toy as he paints creativly on the driveway or sidewalk.

Obviously, I'm not the only one who has had this problem if you've read other's experiences here.

The first one didn't work when we took it out of the box. We exchanged it and the second one works, but the paint barely trickles out. I guess I was expecting more of a spray or at least continuous flow but it is more of a dribble. I will not buy another one.

I read all the reviews of this product but since my daughter was so excited about it I decided to go ahead and try it, I figured if it didn't work we would just take it back. Much to my surprise it worked perfectly. She had a blast playing with it and it cleaned up super easy. I would like to mention that I did dilute the paint as the intructions stated was necessary and I have a feeling the other people did not. We mixed paint with water and shook it up VERY well, put the batteries in and had no problems. It can spray from one of two bottles or you can choose to mix the two which also worked very well. The pink and blue mixed to a nice purple that was clearly different from the blue. The paint did not dribble out, it sprayed a stream like the package indicates it will. The only drawback was that the paint ran out fairly quickly, but it's pretty easy to add/mix up some more. When she was done I was prepared for a complicated cleanup and was again wrong. I rinsed out the paint tubs and filled them with water, turned the dial to mix and ran the water until it turned clear (which took about 30 seconds) then I sprayed everything off wih the hose and set it on the porch to dry. I would highly reccomend this product it's very cool.... just make sure you read and follow the directions!

We love this toy.

The key to this toy is following the directions. The paint MUST BE diluted and shaken very well to mix the paint. No clumps can be left unmixed. When you are done, the unit needs to be rinsed well and clear water run through it for BOTH SIDES BEFORE THE PAINT DRYS!!! In short, play with your children and take responsibility for cleaning this up immediately after you are done.

This is no different than using an adult spray gun. They key is always to thin and clean.

All that said, it was fun to teach the kids about the different spray patterns, mixing the paints in by turning the dial, laying on multiple layers, etc.

You can probably tell that I have some experience with "adult" spray guns. While I have seen the same issues with regular spray guns, this is by no means a daunting task. To atomize the paint passage ways must be very small in the gun, and without thorough cleaning these areas clog.

Read and do. Take no shortcuts and you should enjoy this toy immensely. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is a nod to that this toy is not for everyone.

I didn't have any of the problems the other reviewers had. I used warm water to dilute the paint and used fresh batteries. It works just like the picture on the box, my kiddos are 6 and 4 and they had a blast. Instead of buying pricey refills I use equal parts cornstarch and cold water and 10 drops of food coloring.

After seeing the commercial my daughter begged for this toy. I told her it probably wouldn't as good as on TV. I gave in anyway and bought it. It worked horribly for about 2 minutes before just dribbling out of the nozzle getting paint all over her clothes and shoes. Please don't give in to your child and buy something else.

We just opened ours yesterday. Paint will come out of only one side. THe side that does works just trickles/dribbles out, not a steady stream like the package depicts.

Good things: fun for the kids, worked correctly, easy to use & clean.

Bad things: too expensive, paint runs out too quickly, colors not as bright as seen on tv

My son received the Crayola Sidewalk Paint Sprayer as a gift. It was easy enough to assemble and it was fun and entertaining but it only lasted for 30 minutes at most. He was very disappointed that it ran out so quickly.

The biggest thing to beware of with the Crayola Sidewalk Paint is that it DOES NOT wash off the sidewalk or driveway easily. (Side note: I washed his clothes right away and the paint did come out of them) A month has passed since my son used the sidewalk paint - a month of spraying the paint with a hose and frequent rains yet it still will not wash off. I love my sons creativity but I don't need to have bright pink and blue staining my sidewalk & driveway. I think we will need to rent a pressure washer to remove the paint. Stick with sidewalk chalk - it is economical, fun, lasts longer, and washes off easily.
