Great set for the price. They're high quality pastels with just the right combination of firmness and softness. I recommend using water color paper (when blending with water) or some other tough paper, as they can bleed on normal sketchbook paper.
The only con to this is that it is relatively a small set. That said, there is a 24 pack available for just a bit more.

I just received mine. The photo shows "Crayola" and the description says "Crayola", but "Crayola" is nowhere to be found on the pastels that I received, in case that matters to you. It's strange that it is in the product image, however.
Other info: * Oil Pastels made in Spain * Non-Toxic

I have been using these water-soluble oil pastels on top of (dried) acrylic paint, with great results. The acrylic covers the ground (canvas, in my case) with rich color, as evenly as you like, and the oil pastels add another dimension of drawing, with the terrific bonus feature of allowing you to wash them off partially or completely if you want to. (This makes a nice change from acrylic paint, which dries very fast.) You can apply the pastel color and then spread it with water to make a glaze, or wet the surface and draw onto it. Much fun, and not just for kids!

As these are marked non-toxic, I bought these thinking kids would be able to use them for some fun face-painting. But looks like they barely dissolve in water and not much visible on skin.
Good only just as normal Oil Pastels on paper. |
