I've bought 2 Sets of this 150 count crayola crayon tower. There ARE 150 different colors. Some of them have similar colors; except some are gels, metallic & glitter. The gels are a creamy/smooth texture when you color. The metallics have a nice creamy shimmery texture. The glitters have the regular crayola quality just bits of glitter come out when you color. When I bought them some of the crayons looked the same until I used them on white paper. My friend & I had a blast trying out my kids crayons. I bought a second tower for her kids. They were just too much fun!!! Like I said some of the crayons look the same until you try them out. The only ones that are somewhat repeated are the gels, metallics & glitters. ie: lets say there's a regular purple, then there's a metallic purple, glitter purple & a gel purple. So yes it's a repeated color but not exactly. The main repeats are the primary colors, but they are repeated as gels, metallics & glitters. I highly recommend them. My daughters play with them every chance they get.

As a bachelor in my early 30's, I purchased this mainly to make my married/parent friends jealous of something other than my profound social freedom. While they struggled to locate boxes of 96 Crayola crayons to ship their toddlers off to school with so that they might be the envy of all other toddlers who were given merely 64 colors, I keep my Tower of Color centered on my coffee table as a reminder that I have more free time to waste buying crayons on the internet than they get to use the bathroom.

Also, it's 150 colors of crayon, in a tower. Can you even fathom how great that is after growing up hearing legends of massive 96-color boxes that shone mystical rays of light down upon your face and made your box look like a Corolla at Pebble Beach?

Buying advice: buy this, but keep it at home. There's a box of 120 that may or may not fit better in a tiny backpack, but you'll still be murdering your child's ability to make friends if you send them with that. Stick with 64 or maybe 96 if your offspring happens to show unusually keen interest in fine art.

If you have duplicate colors, call Crayola. The number is on the bottom of the cardboard box. They're going to need the batch number that was imprinted on the bottom of the box (near the phone number). There definitely should not be duplicates.

I called and I have a coupon to buy a replacement one.

There are indeed 150 unique crayons in this tower, including some neat glitter and metallic crayons. It includes a nice sharpener. My only beef is that they could have made the telescoping aspect a bit more stable, but it's pretty easy to put up and down. Other than that, it's a great way to store crayons so they don't break. My 2-1/2 year old loves it. It's also perfect for a group of kids at a table.

This is a great way to see all your crayon options...and there are a lot of options. My daughter loves having all those crayons at her fingertips. A little pricey for crayons, though--unlike another reviewer, we found it for less at Target. And while the telescoping idea is great, it's too hard for my 3 and 4 year olds to get it up and down by themselves. Also, I assumed that it came with a fitted hard plastic lid, but it just has a flimsy throw-away lid which doesn't do much to protect the crayons or prevent spills.

All kids love crayons! Our daughter is amazed at how many she has. The only negative I have to add is that some of the crayon tips were broken upon arrival of item. I am not sure what happened in shipping. Somebody must have dropped it or something. The case was not broken but more than 7 crayon tips were broken off.

I ordered these crayons for myself (I am 23) and as always, Crayola does not disappoint. I was hesitant about ordering after I read the other reviews about the telescoping mechanism malfunctioning or being 'difficult' to operate. Puh-lease! I'm pretty sure my 14-month-old twins could figure it out and make it work. I have no idea how everyone else could possibly having problems with it, unless they received a faulty product. Also, for the people complaining about the repeat colors: yes, there are, but if you looked at the paper on the crayons you'd clearly notice you got different types of crayons: glitter, metallic, and regular.
The only complaint that I have is if a crayon breaks, it will be hard to retrieve out of the tower. However, if I recall from my childhood, they were hard to fish out of the original box, too. ;)

I didn't buy this product through Amazon but through the Target near my house.

There are 150 different crayons! A lot of them SEEM to be the same but they are not; just a shade different. These crayons are durable and I like the telescoping tower as it makes it easier to view the 2nd and 3rd level of crayons. I'm having a lot of fun with this product!
