This review is from: Crayola 52-0029 Crayola 150-Count Telescoping Crayon Tower, Storage Case, Sharpener (Toy)
There are indeed 150 unique crayons in this tower, including some neat glitter and metallic crayons. It includes a nice sharpener. My only beef is that they could have made the telescoping aspect a bit more stable, but it's pretty easy to put up and down. Other than that, it's a great way to store crayons so they don't break. My 2-1/2 year old loves it. It's also perfect for a group of kids at a table.

I've bought 2 Sets of this 150 count crayola crayon tower. There ARE 150 different colors. Some of them have similar colors; except some are gels, metallic & glitter. The gels are a creamy/smooth texture when you color. The metallics have a nice creamy shimmery texture. The glitters have the regular crayola quality just bits of glitter come out when you color. When I bought them some of the crayons looked the same until I used them on white paper. My friend & I had a blast trying out my kids crayons. I bought a second tower for her kids. They were just too much fun!!! Like I said some of the crayons look the same until you try them out. The only ones that are somewhat repeated are the gels, metallics & glitters. ie: lets say there's a regular purple, then there's a metallic purple, glitter purple & a gel purple. So yes it's a repeated color but not exactly. The main repeats are the primary colors, but they are repeated as gels, metallics & glitters. I highly recommend them. My daughters play with them every chance they get.Crayola 150-Count Telescoping Crayon Tower

This is a great way to see all your crayon options...and there are a lot of options. My daughter loves having all those crayons at her fingertips. A little pricey for crayons, though--unlike another reviewer, we found it for less at Target. And while the telescoping idea is great, it's too hard for my 3 and 4 year olds to get it up and down by themselves. Also, I assumed that it came with a fitted hard plastic lid, but it just has a flimsy throw-away lid which doesn't do much to protect the crayons or prevent spills.

If you have duplicate colors, call Crayola. The number is on the bottom of the cardboard box. They're going to need the batch number that was imprinted on the bottom of the box (near the phone number). There definitely should not be duplicates.I called and I have a coupon to buy a replacement one.

All kids love crayons! Our daughter is amazed at how many she has. The only negative I have to add is that some of the crayon tips were broken upon arrival of item. I am not sure what happened in shipping. Somebody must have dropped it or something. The case was not broken but more than 7 crayon tips were broken off.

I didn't buy this product through Amazon but through the Target near my house. There are 150 different crayons! A lot of them SEEM to be the same but they are not; just a shade different. These crayons are durable and I like the telescoping tower as it makes it easier to view the 2nd and 3rd level of crayons. I'm having a lot of fun with this product!

I ordered these to help pass the time while I'm out here in on deployment. As of right now I have yet to use them because my coloring book I ordered w/ them as not arrived. This was a very easy purchase because the cost for 150 different colors is outstanding compared to the 64 pack. Having just the 64 pack last deployement was great but was obviously lacking more colors. The packaging was great especially considering how far they had to travel and the fact that everyone knows packages in the mail are not always handled the proper way. Not a single color was broken. All in all, Crayola's Crayon Tower is a 10 in my book.

As others mentioned, this is an expensive way to buy crayons, but the tower would have been worth it if it operated well. Unfortunately it is poorly designed: during the first couple uses, the tower several times collapsed unexpectedly, but for a while now it has been stuck in the 'up' position which means the cover can't be used and the crayons can't be stored easily. My "child" is 17, an artist, and has struggled to operate this tower (as I have), so I can't imagine young children would be able to use it without a clever adult's help. Also, the cover is of very flimsy plastic rather than the rigid plastic I expected, and it just sits over the collapsed tower rather than attaching to the base. I would not buy this product again unless Crayola took it back to the drawing board and fixed its design flaws.

You know how it is when you try to buy the right items for children, and sometimes you hit the jackpot and other purchases don't work out. This can be especially challenging with a 3-1/2 year difference in age. I have one granddaughter age 4-1/2 and another who will turn 8 years old next month. I found the Crayola tower at Wal-Mart for $14.99, and took a chance because of: 1) the neat case, and 2) the 150 different colors. Usually, even when I get the girls stuff they like, the item(s) quickly end up in disarray, and somehow they still manage to make sense of their play area and items. So you might imagine my shock that these crayons have been kept in their perfect place in the tower. On Saturday, the Crayola Tower went to a swim meet (I was there to see it), I think it went with them on a visit to their Grandma Suzie's out of town, and they also take it to their parents restaurant to pass the time. They told me proudly today that they have not lost one crayon. This is nearly unbelievable, but I was there to see it. Obviously, this purchase was money well spent, so I plan to order another crayola tower, this time from Amazon.Last night at Target, while pricing out their Crayola Tower, I ran across a Pip Squeaks Tower, and am thinking to get that as well. If the Pip Squeaks dry out, who cares, because it is easy to buy more. However, reviewers are complaining about the functionality of the Pip-Squeak TOWER itself. One would think it would be as sturdy as the Crayon Tower...? It just doesn't make sense that Crayola would make one item well and the other similar item cheaply. At Amazon's reasonable price (same as Wal-Mart's but with no tax free shipping), I feel willing to take a risk, because the two items together total just greater than $25 to qualify for the free shipping. [BTW, another great coloring item for intricate design coloring books is the Fiskar 48-piece gel pen marker set for under $20. I've purchased two of those and they are WONDERFUL.] Update: I purchased another crayon tower for the girls, because the crayons in their other tower were getting pretty used, so we took the crayons out of the old tower and put the gelpens referenced above as well as a 50-marker set of the thin Crayola markers in it. This way they have two towers, one with 150 different colored crayons, and the other with their markers and gelpens, making everything easier to play with and transport. |
