5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Oil (Pastels) That I've Used So Far.., December 28, 2008

For the money, these are v.high quality and a easy to work with. What I like especially is their size(easy to hold onto)as well as the fact that they are manufactured with points(like Crayola, which btw,are the manufacturers of them)However, don't let that put you off, these are quite professional and have a great consistency and can even be used w/water and a paintbrush(so you can paint with oils w/o the mess.) For those wanting to try this medium or have been using it for awhile, definitely give these a try, you'll most likely be pleasantly surprised..!

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent water soluble oil pastel, September 13, 2008
Oil pastels are gaining greater popularity because there is no problem with dust and pollution as in soft pastels. They are easy to use and specific techniques enable you to achieve oil painting effects.Portfolio series is creamy, rich in color and blends well. With addition of water,it flows smoothly, not leaving watery residue..These sticks are great value for the money you pay.....comparable to other such water soluble oil pastels nearly double the cost...I have tried several brands...This one is most satisfying, besides being of low cost...This product is not for kids ,but students and amateurs and professional artists. This is made in Spain which has been the home of several great artists,Picasso included.

I have searched high and low for water soluble oil pastels and these are the best. I art journal and do mixed media art and have found these to be invaluable and to have no equal.

They are inexpensive, have a creamy smooth consistency, melt like butter when water is added to give them a beautiful watercolor look, and are a fabulous addition to my art supplies. Very worth the money!

I will be keeping a spare set around so I never run out.

4.0 out of 5 stars water soluable oil pastels, January 24, 2011

These are the creamiest smoothest pastels, easily blendable with a delicious texture. the only negative to it is they changed the color of red-violet from the rich, bright, gem tone that it used to be, to a duller, more subdued tone, which does not jump off the page like it used to. i was very disappointed by this, actually. The red-violet was my favorite color and i used it for so many of my paintings. now i have to go to the trouble of attempting to mix to try my best to match the original color. all in all, a great tool, beautiful colors, and smooth as cream!!!

These work beautifully when you add water to them, and when you don't. They have a smoother look than pastels and oils. I was also surprised at how durable they were- I dropped them a lot and they stuck together. They were a lot of fun to play around with and they were something different. The only thing I wish was different, was that there were more colors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice quality., March 12, 2011

It is great to be able to work with oil pastels that are water soluble! The color blends beautifully with water and the brushes can be cleaned with soap and water!
The point on the end of the pastels makes it easier to use than the standard flat pastels. I have found that for the look I want, it is best to use a smooth paper. These pastels are great for artists and art students.

These little crayons are permanent on cloth once ironed. Not the best for blending but certainly a lot of fun. Easy clean up as well.

These were a great hit at our Assisted Living Community! So much easier and cleaner than oil paints, and the residents love how they blend together so that they can produce lovely masterpieces even without previous art experience.
