The twistable top is a neat idea and certainly solves the problem of lost caps -- but it's not a solution to the problem of dried-out markers, if you have young kids. It still relies on the child to remember to close the marker when finished. If your kid doesn't remember to put the caps back onto his/her regular markers, chances are pretty good that he/she won't remember to twist the twistable marker shut, at least not once the novelty of the twisting action has worn off.

The design seems to be based on a valve or hinge of some kind, inside the marker. When you twist it "up," the valve opens and lets the drawing tip emerge. When you twist it "down," the tip goes back into the marker body and the valve closes to keep it from drying out. So, it's easy to see that if you don't take care to twist it all the way, the marker tip is left unprotected and will dry out. I can't speak to how durable the valves are, as we have only been using these markers a week or two so far.

I bought two packages of these; in one package, one marker was completely dried out when we opened the package, and another was partially dried out. In the other package, all were fine.

Note also that these markers are NOT washable like many of the other Crayola markers!!! Of course they will wash off eventually, but they don't come off easily with a little bit of soap and water, like the ones with the "Washable" designation do.

I purchased these for my child and when we opened the package we found every single one of the markers dried out. I guess the twist tip must not work too great if it doesn't keep the markers sealed even before you first use them.

My daughter just received these for her birthday and when we opened them, they were completely dried up. Contacted Crayola and they responded that they don't manufacture them anymore. Save your money and buy other markers.

I purchased these, opened them for my daughter, and looked in disbelief as she began using them thinking they were intentionally muted colors. No, this is just a poorly conceived gimmick that doesn't work - the actual marker is exposed to the air for whatever indefinite amount of time until they are purchased and unwrapped and by then they're already dried out. I just wasted $6.00 on what is now landfill.

Bought these for an airplane ride. I thought they would be more convenient/easier to use than markers with a lid, for our four-year-old. Turns out all 6 markers were dried out. I already threw out the packaging so I cannot return, but definitely not worth the money. I assumed they were good quality, as they are Crayola. Don't waste your money!

These just don't work. They still dry out even twisted shut. My biggest problem with them is that they are not washable. If you have a kid that is too young to keep track of caps, then they probably need washable markers too. I cannot recommend these, but loved the idea. Too bad it just didn't work.

We used these as a stocking stuffer for Christmas. Opened them up Christmas morning and the ink was dry! My 5 year old still used them and it was really frustrating to know that the ink was dry, but she wanted to use them so badly that she continued to draw with them anyway. Very disappointed.

These are great so you do not loose the caps of pens, especially for little kids, although they still might not twist them down again. When these pens arrived they were a little dried out, if you add a little water to the tip it seems to be ok. I am glad I have them.
