My children love to use these markers. You use one side of the marker as usual, but then when you go back over the area with the other non-colored side, the part you go over changes to a different color. The children love to watch the color change, regardless of how interested in the finished product. It's fun to make dots, stripes, and patterns over the original or whatever inspires them. Good product. Most of the time, a simple product like this has much more value than Crayola's latest gimmicky product (color boards, domes, etc.)

These are great. You can just draw with them, or change colors with them. My 5 year old spends a lot of time making "secret messages." She draws with one color, and then has someone else draw over it to make the secret message turn color.

I bought these because my Crayola over/under-writers are pretty much dried up. I loved using them (who says you have to be a kid to enjoy them?). The old set came with two sets of markers: a base or "under" marker and a top or "over" marker which changed the color of the under marker--like magic! And each of the over colors worked on all of the under colors, giving an opaque line of color. The over markers also worked on their own as "regular" markers.

Alas, the Color Switchers don't work in the same way. They are double-ended markers, with a chisel tip. You lay down a base color with one end, then use the clear end to go over it and change it. The clear end is just that: no color, unlike the "over" markers from the old set. Each clear marker works exactly the same, no matter which base color you use it on...so, there's not as much variety in color combinations. Not an improvement! Why do so many manufacturers seem to do things like this?

The Color Switcher colors and changes are:

Mustard Custard to Looney Marooney
Tangerine Dream to Scary Canary
Yummy Plummy to Inky Pinky
Screamin' Green to Grape Ape
Scarlet Starlet to Bold Gold
Denim Venom to Icy Dicey (light blue)

To be fair, they do work well. I'm just disappointed that you can't (no pun intended) switch them up more.

Love these. They are fun to draw with. But we also used them to practice our letters. I draw the letter then I have my son trace the letter I just drew to change the color.

I work with children at a public school, and have found these markers to be very motivating to the children! You can have them trace over lines, color over a picture with the white side of the marker, or draw something "invisible" for them to color over and watch it appear! These are invaluable and difficult to find in the stores.

I work with children with behavioral problems and they love these and like to earn rewards to use them or find hidden messages about their positive behavior. Wished the oranges weren't so close in color and more variety in colors!

I was so excited to finally find some colour-changing markers, 'cause I had looked several times over the past several years and have not found/have had a hard time finding some that aren't outrageously expensive. I tried one day a search here (Amazon) and found these. These seemed most promising, and they were cheap.
Well, I started using them, and they were fine.

Issues I have:
- some markers "bleed" more than others (like, unless you have construction paper or a thick kind of paper, it tends to seep through for some of the markers)Even if I press lightly, it doesn't make a difference. The colour difference on the blue and the green aren't THAT distinct. The blue-blue, especially, is hard to see and hard to
have come out. : \
- once you write with the "white" marker, more often times than not, once you start to colour over with the actual colour, it tends to smear the writing.
*for me, it didn't do that at first, at least, the first few times that I used them; but the more I used them, the more it tended to smear
- the "white" marker end, doesn't write evenly, e.g. I will try to just use the tip (not the flat end, which, I don't know why it has an angle to it) it sometimes doesn't clearly write, or sometimes if I don't hold it "right," the lettering will come out funky, fat/thick, and uneven. I find it hard to write a message clearly, and then colour over it with the marker and not have the message get smeared (basically, there is no point to having written anything since it all gets smudged to the point it almost looks like one had no intention of writing anything, only made squiggles/streaks with the white and then wanted to see the two colours by using the markers.)

Maybe I just need to let the "white" dry?????

In any case...I like them and yet I don't. It al most feels like a love-hate relationship.

My elementary school age girls LOVE these markers. While they do enjoy using them "as intended" -- coloring one color then going over it with the other end to make it change, their favorite thing to do is write/draw secret messages. Use the "color switch" end of the marker FIRST to draw or write something. It will be basically invisible. Then color over the whole page with the marker and surprise, there is your secret message!
