Needs a hundred markers to complete,

My son started using this product with great enthusiasm. After partially completing three of the 20-odd pages all of his markers had run dry. The markers contain some sort of solvent that removes a layer of black ink that hides the 3D drawing underneath. I tried the markers myself and they did not work anymore. The markers become filled with black gunk almost immediately. My son discovered that if you bash the marker tips really hard against the pages some disolvant spurts out and you can make some small progress. I was ready to give up when I started trying cleaning products from under my sink. It turns out the "green" Clorox product will remove the black skin and reveal the drawings underneath. We ended up using the Clorox product and half a roll of paper towels to finish the remaining pages. It was a filthy job. However, in the end, my son really enjoyed looking at the pictures with the 3D glasses. Next time, I'll just buy a book of 3D pictures. This product is only good for 2 or 3 of the 20 pages. Not recommended.

My son saw these on tv and really wanted one- it looked cool enough for me to think it might keep him busy. It comes with 12 scenes, 3 patterns and 3 plain sheets. It comes with 4 pens that are all the same- you just color and it essentially uncovers the scene. Unfortunately the pens wear very fast even if you use them perfectly, which seems to be almost a 45 degree angle for the most contact and my son wanted to just scribble with the point down. If the pens lasted longer or the set came with about 3 times as many, this would be a great thing, but it just is the failing point. The 3D part works more or less as advertised, my son thought it was pretty neat anyway.

Great Crayola! My daughter absolutely loves (she's 7) and draws all in it all the time. I got it for her a week or so ago from Amazon (looks like all other websites are out of stock), it came really fast and she's been using that ever since. I don't know why previous reviewer said that markers are poor quality and she couldn't get the picture to come up, all works great here. Well worth the money!

Like the poster above said - the kit we got came with 6 markers, and all of them were ruined by the end of the first picture. I am calling Crayola Monday, and if they do not have a solution I am returning this.

My three girls ages 11, 9, 5 were very extremely disappointed! Like others have reported the markers only work for a few minutes. My kids didn't even get through one picture. My 5 year old had been saving change and when she saw this item I had to take her to the bank to cash it in and then go buy this, it's hard to see her so upset about this product. My 11 year old finally poured water on the page and removed the black product, which then made a huge mess and ruined a towel. All three of the kids used there own money. The product now sits, not being used at all. I will say though the 3D glasses make almost everything look 3D, but definitely not worth the [...] we paid for the sets. Definitely do not recommend.

We purchased this product yesterday, and it's been a nothing but trouble from the beginning.
We didn't even finish one page, and all of the markers were already working very poorly. After finishing the first full page, we've been having to wipe off each marker, or change markers almost constantly to get anywhere with uncovering the 3D pictures. I will never buy another Crayola Explosion product. My 6 yr old son is dissapointed. And I can see why, because when I tried to color the pages for him, I found it to be extremely frustrating. Toys are supposed to be fun. This one is not.

Grandchildren had a ball (age 7-13) but it's only good for one time, even if capped, they don't work anymore so would be fun for a lot of children just for the day, birthday parties, holiday, kids camps, etc.

We got this for our kids thinking they would love it, but they could barely get the picture to come up. In order to see the picture you have to press really hard with the markers which are very poor quality, and the ink from the paper stains your fingers with the smallest amount of moisture on your skin. We had throw it out because the ink was permanent, we could not wash it off with soap or alcohol.

I agree with everyone else - black gunk sticks to the markers, they dry out so fast you can't complete the book - the effect is cool - if they could just work out the problem with the markers...

I should have listened to the reviewers opinions.....the markers worked well for about two pictures. My grandson loved it till the markers stopped working.
