Crayola Color Explosion 3-D Wide Version

The idea of this product is great and the 3-D effect is very cool but it is physically very difficult to "color" off the surface and expose art underneath. We went through all 5 pens and could not even completely uncover the single picture we were working on. One can clean and reuse the pens but we more or less gave up after about an hour. If the mechanics of the product could be improved this would be great fun.

My daughter wanted this for her birthday. She saw the ads on TV. The glasses broke the first day and the product seems cheap for the price. The effect produced wasn't as dramatic as advertised.

Crayola 3-D is terrible! It's just a 3-D picture underneath black ink. The marker of water provided wipes off the black ink,(which gets on your hands and clothes and doesn't come off)and then you can look at the pre-drawn 3-D picture underneath. Extremely disappointing and a waste of money. Don't buy this.

Seriously, this thing is awful. You are supposed to use the marker and "slick sticks" to remove the black finish over the picture, but it doesn't work very well and we ended up with little white bits (wax?) everywhere. My son bailed after 5 minutes. Don't waste your money.

My daughter wanted this more than anything for her birthday (I have TV ads to thank for that!!). Despite my sharing with her the negative reviews, she still wanted to take a chance and go for it. Well, she got it this weekend and within about 10-15 minutes, she had used up all the markers just working on her 1st drawing!! While that unfinished drawing looked kind of cool with the glasses, that was it! That's the end of the toy!! My daughter did wear the glasses for awhile and declared that she could see everything in our house in 3D! (definitely a bit of a stretch but I tried to make her happy and went along with it...!). The glassses had to be fixed constantly because they kept falling apart. So, all in all, this was a total waste. I'm feeling very disappointed in Crayola! We just visited their place in Easton, PA several months ago. My sweet, sentimental feelings are fading...

She can not get over how awesome the 3D image looks. She can draw her own custom 3D images as well. This is an amazing product. No mess and she can get very creative with it.

I've never bought or used a toy that was of such low quality.

Two of the three pens crumbled at the slightest pressure (leaving messy white crumbs all over the place)...I thought maybe my son was pressing too hard, but when I tried with a new pen, the same thing happened. The other felt-tipped pen clogged up within minutes, and we didn't get through 10% of a single drawing before the pens were useless. Now the entire thing is useless.

Horrible waste of money and time. I can't believe the first several reviews of this product were from genuine users...either that or crayola dramatically redesigned this product since first introducing it.

My 6 year old daughter bought this with her Christmas money and I really wish she hadn't. It seems like a great idea but the thing is almost impossible to use. It came with one marker and 2 waxy marker things that didn't do anything but smudge up the paper. We had to throw away the first page because the waxy marker was clumped all over it. After a couple days of trying to use this thing I discovered that using plain water worked much better than the markers so we started using Q-Tips to remove the black surface. This proved to be very very time consuming so I took it to the next level. I brought the whole page into the shower and showered all of the surface off. In the end we ended up with 20 3d poster-like pages that, honestly, don't look very 3d! Such a waste of money!

This is a terrible mess. All it is, is a picture hidden under a thick layer of black gunky ink that "magically" comes off from the "marker" but what really happens is that the black stuff wipes off all over you and stains horribly. It was easier to just take wet wipes and wipe the black stuff off to reveal the picture, which was also dissappointing. If your child likes 3D then it would be better to invest in a 3D book of some sort and if your child likes to color or draw there are many better options out there. I was impressed with the 3D Chalk set but highly dissappointed with this product. Please save your money and don't buy this product.

Love the whole concept of the pictures that appear when they color a black piece of paper. Great thinking.
