There is no other gift that has given my 4 year old so much delight. He would rather draw with his pencil set than watch TV, how's that for motivation to make this purchase. The carrying case is not right for small children, hard for them to open and easy to spill. They must have done something right in the design, though, because my son takes a lot of pride in keeping all of his pencils sharpened and in their place. He has had it for more than half a year now and uses them every day.

I was sorely disappointed with these pencils. They are so short! One or two sharpenings and they'll be useless. Plus, my package arrived with fully 1/3 of the pencils broken off at the tip. I am returning them.

Preschoolers learn better how to hold a pencil when they are short. I got two boxes, one for my son and one for his class, they love them.

These pencils were much cheaper than buying them at any store and still the same great crayola brand. Received very quickly in time for school (anatomy and physiology for RN program). I used them for flash cards, notes and a Greys Anatomy coloring book I also purchased.

These 64-count short Crayola Colored Pencils are a disappointment for a number of reasons. Short? And how! They measure 3.5 inches (9 cm) stem to stern and look more like golf pencils than any kind of long-barrelled pencil. The box disguises this shortcoming by being very tall, but inside each successive row of pencils is stepped up, like stadium seating in a theater. The exterior implies that the pencils are in order by color range, but they appear to be in no color order, neither prismatic, alphabetic, or by hue. The built-in sharpener is plastic and lame. The maker says the colors are different, but I'll have to trust them on that because color names are not printed on the pencils themselves.

This is way too much to pay for such a disorganized mediocrity. Crayola makes better colored pencils (especially the long-barrelled ones), and there is plenty of competition these days, as well.

A note on nomenclature: according to company info., Binney & Smith(tm) changed its name to Crayola LLC on January 1, 2007.

My daughter loves to draw and I bought these for her to color in her pictures. Since crayons are to fat, I thought these would be perfect. The color range is wonderful, the case is convenient, the sharpener is a nice touch, but the colors draw light. They aren't as dark as she wants. Markers get too dark and smudgy, but these are too dull. What can I say, she's an 8 year old artist. You know how picky that combination can be.

First let me say that I have been an avid and loyal Crayola customer since I was a kid. When I saw the 64 count of colored pencils I was ecstatic because I prefer colored pencils to crayons now. I did realize that the title said "short" but short is not an accurate description of these pencils; they are MINUTE! These pencils are smaller than golf pencils. What in the world am I to do with these? I though short meant at least 6 inches, but these pencils are a mere 3.25" fresh out of the box and that's including the pre-sharpened tip. Two good uses and they are done for. I guess hindsight is 20/20 because I only read the reviews after I received the product. One star is far too generous for the experience considering the cost to return the pencils were as much as the pencils themselves. I'll remain a loyal Crayola consumer, but my purchases will not be from Amazon. BUYER BEWARE!!!

I sent these to a friend's little girl and she's having a blast coloring with them.

My granddaughter like that the pencils came in a box with sharpener. But the fact that the box cover started falling apart with her first use was disappointing for her.

The colored pencils had lots of nice colors. What I didn't like was the shortness of the pencil. They were not nice and long like the kind you buy in the market. With as much coloring as my kids do they will not last very long.
