Unlike the twenty-four pack, the twelve pack does not have enough colors. They work really well, but whenever I color with them I always find myself wanting more. There good for basic coloring , like for children, but I don't reccomend them for extensive coloring. If you do alot of coloring and perfer more color I would reccomend at least a twenty-four pack. They make up to 72. Happy coloring!

These pencils serve my needs -- I draw comics and post them online for my family -- but you need to have a light touch when sharpening. Don't push hard or twist too much or the lead will break and about an inch will fall out of the pencil. Honestly, I only sharpen a little each time I need to, and I don't press over-hard on the paper.

They get the job done insofar as I require, and they're cheap. Good for kids to draw with or for your own casual use if staying sharp (and thus in the lines) isn't a life-or-death requirement.

For serious artists, you should invest in something like Prismacolor pencils. For those less serious than Prismacolor but still more serious than Crayola, I hear Sargent pencils are a good middle ground.
