They are not that much harder to clean up in comparison with the kind of markers you have to use on black dry erase boards.. they aren't all that much more messier. The neon dry-erase paint markers flake off as well when removing, creating a mess. These flake about the same amount.. Also, the dry-erase paint markers have to be shaken before use every time...these crayons don't need to be shaken. (Duh! I know.. :) )
Another delight is that I have a reason to buy my 29 year-old self crayons now. =)
*The red crayon resembles more of a dark pink color.
They worked well and stayed on several days without a problem until I washed them off with a wet cloth. I didn't have any issues with removing the crayon from the chalkboard this way. Since I was able to easily remove them from a cheaper fiberboard chalkboard sign, I would guess that most people wouldn't have issues removing them.
We just wrote normally on the sign, and it showed up when you were within a few feet, but it wasn't anything you could see across the room. For the crayon to look as bright as the illustration on the box, I think you'd have to put down a lot of crayon and make very thick lines. If you want your message to appear very bright and be visible from a longer distance, you might want to try a specialty neon marker instead.
Also, they weren't very bright at all. They were hard to see on my black white board.
