These "paint pens" are really just markers with a different tip (note: the tip is not an actual brush but is shaped like a brush). That said, this was a great purchase for my 12 month old daughter. They are easier to draw with than crayons because you don't have to push down so hard. These paint pens are also easier than regular markers for her little hands to hold. She gets marker everywhere..her hands, her clothes, her face, my hands, my clothes...she likes to sneak off with them and draw on the walls and the floor. My daughter thinks the world is her canvas! Luckily, they wash out of everything, even carpet. So fun! They hold her attention for a long time!

I was looking for something to play with, without the fuss of multiple paint jars/needing to clean a brush. These delivered enough so that I'd be perfectly peachy if they came in more colors. Initially I was really disappointed since they behaved basically like markers with bristles instead of a felt tip. But then I got the idea to dip them in water (not sure if you're supposed to do that) and it really became a lot more like painting. I could do washes-- blending was not exactly great but I wasn't using watercolor paper. Anyways, this isn't really a serious art supply so I wasn't expecting exceptional versatility/quality.

I wish I'd read these reviews before buying this, but I was at a brick & mortar store, looking for a less messy way for my toddler to paint some Easter magnets.

As others have pointed out, these are just brush-tipped markers. They don't contain paint, just marker ink. Very deceptive packaging, it says "paint" all over the place.

These are just overpriced markers, and honestly they don't flow as well as regular Crayola markers either. What a ripoff.

Having spent the past seven years babysitting for my three grandsons, there were days when I'd wake up refreshed and rarin' to go - and when it came to painting, I'd do the same thing my dear mother used to do with my younger sisters and I... get out all of the paints and brushes, put a big plastic tablecloth down, cover the boys in home made smocks (actually just old pillowcases with a hole cut in the end for their heads, slits on the sides for their arms, just like Mom used to do with us!), and let them just go to town! But there were occasional days where some of those "aches and pains" of getting older would take a toll, and the thought of cleaning up paint water spills on top of the energy it took just to keep up with them with the normal activities seemed daunting.

On days like those, I came to REALLY appreciate these "paint brush" pens! Now, they claim there's no-drip paint inside of them... mmm, I dunno about that. Especially my oldest grandson loved their design, because they really do have the look of artist brushes, with their elegant, tapered design (versus the thin sticks bristles on the end that come with most children's paint). And the 3/8" tips are also slender and taper down to a fine point, are extremely flexible (sponge, not bristles) that leads a child to feel like they're painting, but it's not the consistency of paint... it's the consistency of marker ink. The caps fit on snugly (these are 6-1/2"L with the cap on, @ 5-3/4" without), but there's one drawback I can see for younger children... you have to be careful when putting the caps back on, so as not to damage those fine tips.

The colors are vibrant, they definitely get points for the designer look they have, but the best part is the "no-drip", no cups required!

I really like these pens. While others noted that it is misleading that it's not really a paintbrush pen, it's different and I enjoyed using them.

Pros:
- Fun to use, more so than regular markers. The tip is shaped like a paintbrush and kind of glides across the page. My 2 and 3 year old loved painting them. My 3 year old doesn't like to draw with markers or crayons, but she will use this.
- Washable- it really does come off the linoleum floor, skin, everything pretty well
- Different- being that the shape and feel is different it is much closer to painting than writing.
- Versatile- I couldn't think of another word, but you can use it like a paintbrush in that it glides fat or thin across the page depending on how you hold it.

Cons:
- Not a durable tip. While it's not recommended for those under 3 and my kids are a bit rough with them, I expected the tip to last more than one use before showing some wear. I'm sure this wouldn't be the case with an older child who can hold it more gently.

These product can be found in stores for less price and not impress for what it is. My son does not like it.

I bought these for my 2 year old daughter that LOVES to paint. Since she hasn't gotten the hang of "water, paint, paper!" these were GREAT! They don't drip paint everywhere and she can make wide strokes or thin strokes. I have a large sheet of paper taped to the dishwasher and she can add to her picture whenever she wants to. The caps are a bit hard to get off for a 2 year old by herself, but this way I get to help a little. We have had one set for over a year and are JUST needing to get a new set. I do wish they came in more than just the 5 colors. I will be happy to buy these again.
